It was the news that has the whole racing world talking, and we finally got to hear from the man himself as Frankie Dettori talks about his recently-announced 'sabbatical' from top trainer John Gosden and at least a temporary halt to their highly successful association. A partnership that goes back three decades, Dettori and Gosden have enjoyed particular success from Clarehaven Stables in Newmarket since the two teamed up in 2015, kickstarting an indian summer to Dettori's career with Derby glory aboard Golden Horn the first of 41 Group 1 victories in Britain and Ireland as well as three Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe successes and more top-level wins in France and America with such equine stars including Enable, Stradivarius, Palace Pier and Too Darn Hot. Speaking to Racing TV's Chris Dixon on the July Course at Newmarket, Dettori explains more about his seeming departure from the Gosden fold and vows to ride on for at least the rest of this season and for the following campaign in 2023. #HorseRacing #frankiedettori #sport This is the official YouTube channel of Racing TV. Aidan O’Brien’s landed a record-breaking 41st British Classic as Tuesday edged out favourite Emily Upjohn in a head-bobbing finish to the 2022 Cazoo Oaks at Epsom. Having placed in both the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and Irish equivalent, the daughter of Galileo seemingly thrived for the step up in trip to give O’Brien his 10th victory in the race. The result might have been very different, however, as the Frankie Dettori-ridden Emily Upjohn slipped leaving the stalls and was left in rear where the eventual winner was lurking nearby in the hands of Ryan Moore. As the pace began to quicken turning for home it was the first and second that caught the eye, as Moore went one way on Tuesday and Dettori and Emily Upjohn made eyecatching headway nearer the stands' rail. The duo then hit the front simultaneously and were soon embroiled in a titanic battle to the line, with a photo finish required to separate the classy fillies. Tuesday officially prevailed by a short head, with the Hollie Doyle-ridden Nashwa a further three and a quarter lengths back in third. #TheDerby #TheOaks #HorseRacing #Horses #Horse #EpsomDowns This is the official YouTube channel of Racing TV. A fairytale success! Simon Condon turns 60 next year but won't have enjoyed many better days as he guided home Eat The Book, who he owns himself, to a remarkable victory at Kilbeggan. The rider has been competing in the saddle since 19 years of age but, incredibly, this is his first ever winner and all the more special as the horse was bought by his father. Detached early, the rider stayed patient on the nine-year-old gelding, creeping into contention on the final circuit before making his challenge down the outside of the field and forging clear for a most unlikely success. A jubilant Condon said afterwards: "I've been waiting a long time for it. This is my first ever [winner] and I'm delighted for my Dad as he had bought the horse for me to ride." #Fairytale #FirstWinner #HorseRacing #Incredible This is the official YouTube channel of Racing TV. Amateur rider Sam Waley-Cohen enjoyed a fairytale finale to his career as he guided Noble Yeats to a thrilling victory in the Randox Grand National at Aintree. Waley-Cohen had announced on Thursday that it would be his final ride before retirement. Most expected the 39-year-old to be little more than a support player aboard a novice chaser owned by his father, Robert, but instead the pair took centre stage in the greatest race of them all. Sent off at 50-1, Noble Yeats was going well from some way out but the game looked up for him when the well-backed Any Second Now hit the front at the final fence under Mark Walsh. However, Waley-Cohen, who has also built up a chain of dental practices, extracted more from his mount and won going away by two and a quarter lengths. #HorseRacing #Horses #GrandNational #Aintree #RandoxGrandNational #Equine This is the official YouTube channel of Racing TV. Racing history again! Rachael Blackmore etched herself further into racing folklore as she added the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup to last year’s Grand National in guiding A Plus Tard to a runaway success in steeplechasing's most prestigious prize. Not everything had gone right for A Plus Tard in last year’s Gold Cup when finishing runner-up to Henry de Bromhead-trained stablemate Minella Indo and the queen of jump jockeys felt she had unfinished business, having picked the wrong horse. So it proved, as the 3-1 favourite left last year’s winner in his wake following a ride timed to perfection. Stuck behind a wall of horses turning in, Blackmore was patient and came between Protektorat and dual winner Al Boum Photo to hunt down defending champion Minella Indo, who had four lengths to spare jumping the penultimate fence. Yet Blackmore, who became the first woman to ride a Gold Cup winner, adding to her two Champion Hurdles and the National, used A Plus Tard’s pace to perfection and she jumped to the front over the last and powered clear. The easy early pace, set by Asterion Forlonge and Aye Right, certainly helped the eight-year-old, who was going clear at the finish, recording a 15-length success from Minella Indo, with the Dan Skelton-trained Protektorat nosing out Galvin for third, some two and a half lengths behind the runner-up. #CheltenhamFestival #HorseRacing #Horses #Sport #RachaelBlackmore This is the official YouTube channel of Racing TV. Honeysuckle brought the house down at Cheltenham as she took her unbeaten tally to 15 with another imperious performance in the 2022 Unibet Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. Successful behind closed doors 12 months ago, the Henry de Bromhead-trained mare gave the huge crowd plenty to cheer about as she powered up the hill to join the elite hand of dual winners in the hands of Rachael Blackmore. Appreciate It, having his first race since winning the Supreme Novices' Hurdle on this day last year, made the running with Not So Sleepy for company until Honeysuckle made her move and jumped to the front at the second-last flight. The 8-11 favourite set sail for home and though challenged by Nicky Henderson's 2020 winner Epatante (16-1), she was too good and went on to score by three and a half lengths. Zanahiyr (28-1) was a length away in third place. Honeysuckle received a rapturous reception following her victory, with De Bromhead delighted to see the public pay the mare her due respect. He said: "It's better than last year, obviously, with the crowd here, with Kenny (Alexander, owner) and (his wife) Caroline, with everybody. It's amazing. It's like a never-ending fairytale - just incredible." #HorseRacing #Honeysuckle #RachaelBlackmore #CheltenhamFestival #Horses This is the official YouTube channel of Racing TV.
