Thomas Frank reflects on the 2-1 defeat at Griffin Park.
Brentford fell to a narrow defeat in the final match of the regular season at Griffin Park. The Bees will now set their sights on promotion via the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs.
Brentford suffered a first defeat in nine games away to Stoke City on Saturday 18 July, Lee Gregory scoring the only goal during a rainy match on Stanley Matthews Way. The defeat saw plenty of controversy, including a pull on Ethan Pinnock that went unpunished in the first half by referee Geoff Eltringham and a whole host of late chances for The Bees.
Our Club record of eight straight league wins was equalled last night after a 1-0 victory over Preston North End at Griffin Park. The only goal arrived early, Ollie Watkins netting inside four minutes. After that it was a resilient rearguard performance as we closed the gap on the top two to one point with two to play.
