Syracuse Orange K alum Cole Murphy speaks on Andre Szmyt passing his record
Dan Tortora (DT) welcomes friend Cole Murphy, Syracuse Orange kicker alum (2014-17) to speak on current Syracuse kicker Andre Szmyt, who he was on the team with when he was a senior & Szmyt was a freshman, immediately following Szmyt passing his all-time kicking record at Syracuse for field goals made in a 62-24 home win over the Albany Great Danes. Murphy, like Szmyt, also rose from coming in as a walk-on to being a starter & gaining a scholarship, meaning two former walk-ons now sit at the TOP of Syracuse kicking history. How Syracuse Kicking History looks now for individual's career made field goals: 1. Andre Szmyt - 60 (& counting, with the 59th & 60th coming at home vs UAlbany) 2. Cole Murphy - 59 3. John Bishop - 57 4. Dave Jacobs - 53 5. Nate Trout & Ross Krautman - 49 6. Syracuse enters the game as the NATIONAL LEADER in Takeaways, with 16 (8 interceptions & 8 fumble recoveries on 6 forced fumbles). They are coming off of their first game this season without an interception after gaining at least one interception per game in their first 4 games.
