I decided that I needed to sample the Big 2 derby match. It didn’t disappoint, a great atmosphere and a grand stand finish. Tonight I had a special guest on tow, Ex Glentoran, Coleraine, Linfield & Portadown player Johnny Black. Johnny a blues man was in the last Glentoran squad to win the Irish league back in 2009. As per the vlog, check out @FootyAdventures and annoy Sam until he gets over to NI to provide history lesson vlogs of the Irish league.
Coleraine hosted the league leaders and current champions Linfield at the showgrounds for the 2nd time this season. The Blues would be without key players Manzinga and Shields, the bannsiders would take full advantage of this and produced a gutsy display full of heart and energy. Quality finishes from Kane, Shevlin and Glackin would give Coleraine the 3 points and this also meant that Glentoran who won today would go top. The Irish league is in a good place, we are proud to be part of it. I should highlight that the behaviour of some so called fans entering the field of play really needs stopped as it is embarrassing to all.
This vlog is dedicated to ex Portadown player Kevin ‘Tree’ McKeever who I used to work with. RIP. Coleraine made the trip to Portadown for their first league game of 2022. The peaky bannsiders headed down full of optimism expecting a victory however another sub standard performance awaited. A 0-0 draw with no flashpoints and very little goal mouth action. Something has to change, new signings are sure to arrive. Thank you to Portadown for their kind hospitality and access around the ground. I decided to head up to seaview to watch 2 of the best teams in the country contest the first silverware of the season. The Co.Antrim shield. It was a great game, super atmosphere and Larne won thanks to a goal from Tomas Cosgrove. Linfield and Larne’s rivalry is growing game by game, this is going to get interesting. I’ve vlogged as much highlights as I can and also extended footage of the Larne celebrations. There is a beautiful moment with Kofi Balmer which is lovely to see near the end.
The Peaky Bannsiders headed up the A26 full of optimism for the Christmas derby match against rivals ballymena. Coleraine ended 2021 on the end of another defeat. Yet again defensive mistakes and missed chances cost the bannsiders dearly. With Deane and McKendry being stretchered off is there crisis? Yet another poor performance by the bannsiders against high flying glentoran. In truth coleraine never laid a finger on the glens. A depressing night for the Peaky Bannsiders and a Christmas gift for the men from east Belfast.
The bannsiders return home. Strange day as Oisín was ‘on one’ so to speak. Decent game of football, good result. Oisíns friends were filmed with the permission of their father.
Back in Belfast for our 4th trip of the season. Good to be back after missing last weeks Dungannon trip. Most enjoyable away day so far with the drum making a first appearance of the season. Come on the Bannsiders
Another year, another heartbreak for the bannsiders. I need to say a massive thank you to Tony, my heart goes out to you.
A routine victory for coleraine against derby rivals ballymena in the Danske bank premiership.
