Match Highlights: Atlanta United vs Seattle Sounders FC l | May 23, 2021

Atlanta United played Seattle Sounders FC to a 1-1 draw Sunday at Lumen Field. Josef Martinez scored his second goal of the season, converting an 86th minute penalty kick, and Atlanta held Seattle to just two shots on target en route to extending its unbeaten streak to three consecutive matches. Seattle opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Raul Ruidiaz. Joao Paulo delivered an out-swinging corner kick towards Ruidiaz at the edge of the six-yard box who was able to beat his mark and head the cross into the top-right corner of the net. But thanks to Atlanta’s stingy defense, it would be the last attempted shot on target by Seattle until second half stoppage time. Atlanta controlled possession in the first half with 65 percent of the ball as it began its quest for an equalizer. It’s best two chances came late in the half as Martinez fired a long-range shot over the crossbar in the 37th minute and Miles Robinson headed a corner kick from Brooks Lennon into the arms of goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland just before halftime. Jake Mulraney entered the match coming out of halftime, replacing Erik López, and had Atlanta’s first chance of the second half when he hit a low left-footed effort just past the far post. Atlanta continued to control play throughout the entire second half and finally broke through from the penalty spot. Lennon forced the penalty by driving down the right flank and into the box where he was attempting to center a cross. However, he was brought down by Brad Smith and without hesitation, referee Kevin Stott pointed to the spot. Martinez stepped up and buried it into the top left corner for the equalizer. Match Highlights: Atlanta United vs CF Montréal | May 15, 2021

Atlanta United defeated CF Montreal 1-0 Saturday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as Marcelino Moreno scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time in front of a crowd of 40,116, the highest attendance for a soccer match in the world since the COVID-19 pandemic began. As the match appeared to be heading toward a scoreless draw, Atlanta found the breakthrough goal in the 94th minute. Santiago Sosa started the play in Atlanta’s own half, playing a ball out wide to Homegrown George Bello who quickly found second-half substitute Jake Mulraney sprinting toward goal. The Irish winger dribbled to the edge of the 18-yard box on the left side before delivering a pin-point cross to the middle of the box. Moreno jumped and headed the ball down, sending it bouncing off the right post and into the goal. It was Moreno’s second goal of the year and Mulraney’s second assist. Atlanta United opened the match strong and pressured Montreal’s goal early, nearly scoring in the sixth minute. Moreno lofted a pass from the center of the field toward the right post where Erik López was making a run. López attempted a header at the near post, but Clément Diop made a diving save. A minute later, Bello deked a defender on the left side and raced toward the end line before floating a cross to the center of the box. Josef Martínez won the header, but his shot was lifted just over the crossbar. Atlanta appeared to have scored in the 51st minute when Martínez played Emerson Hyndman into the box on the right side and the midfielder calmly finished with a low shot past Diop, but he was ruled offside. Atlanta pushed for the go-ahead goal, nearly connecting on a number of plays late. In the 78th minute, Bello sent in a cross from the left for Martínez, but his header missed wide right. The Venezuelan had another opportunity in the 83rd minute when a free kick from left side was sent into the box and knocked down by Miles Robinson. A Montreal defender failed to clear the loose ball and Martínez and Diop collided in an attempt to win it, however a foul was called on the forward. SUBSCRIBE to our channel! #UniteAndConquer

Match Highlights: Atlanta United vs New England Revolution | May 1, 2021

Atlanta United lost to New England Revolution 2-1 Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. Marcelino Moreno scored his first goal of the season, but a second half penalty awarded to New England after video review was ultimately the difference maker. New England took the lead in the 19th minute after stringing a few passes together from a corner kick. Eventually, Carles Gil chipped a ball into the center of the box for Brandon Bye, who’s run from the midfield enabled him to find space and casually re-direct a header to the far post to beat Brad Guzan. The Revolution controlled play for most of the first half, but Atlanta equalized from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute. Moreno took Bye on along the left wing and was eventually dragged down near the end line. The Argentine midfielder stepped up and calmly slotted past Matt Turner to equalize before halftime. Atlanta improved its play after halftime but was undone by a video review decision that awarded New England a penalty. Emerson Hyndman fouled Tajon Buchanan on the edge of the box, but after review, the foul was deemed to be on the line and a penalty was given. Gil stepped to the spot and converted to give New England a 2-1 lead. In the final half hour, Atlanta continued to push forward, including forcing a pair of saves from Turner. However, Ezequiel Barco was forced off the field in the 79th minute with an injury, and with Atlanta out of substitutes, the team was forced to play with 10 men for the final stretch of the match. Atlanta (1-1-1, 4 points) returns to action Tuesday to take on Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park in the Second Leg of its 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinals match-up (8:00 p.m. ET, FS1/TUDN). Match Highlights: Atlanta United vs Orlando City SC | April 17, 2021

Atlanta United opened its 2021 MLS Regular Season with a 0-0 draw against Orlando City SC at Exploria Stadium on Saturday. Brad Guzan made three saves to keep his 43rd clean sheet for the club and the team ran it’s shutout streak to three consecutive matches to start its competitive season. An evenly played first half ended with a pair of opportunities for each team. After a pair of free kicks led to aerial opportunities for Orlando that ultimately missed the net, one of Atlanta’s better chances came in the 43rd minute. After receiving a pass near the wing, Jake Mulraney cut inside and unleashed a left-footed shot from the top of the box that forced a save from Pedro Gallese. The game opened up in the second half with each team having opportunities early. Orlando’s best chance came in the 72nd minute when Chris Mueller found Alexandre Pato inside the penalty area. Last-ditch defending from Anton Walkes may have saved a goal, but his deflection still required a save from Guzan that the veteran was ultimately able to make. Atlanta had a pair of chances late. In the 85th minute, second-half substitute and debutant Machop Chol was in on goal and just missed redirecting a cross from Brooks Lennon. Four minutes later, fellow second-half substitute Franco Ibarra’s shot from distance forced another save from Gallese. Next up for Atlanta (0-0-1, 1 point) is the club’s home opener of the 2021 MLS Regular Season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium next Saturday, April 24 against Chicago Fire SC (8:00 p.m. ET, Bally Sports South, Sports Radio 92-9 The Game). It will take on Philadelphia Union in the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinals at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Tuesday, April 27. SUBSCRIBE to our channel! #UniteAndConquer

Match Highlights | Atlanta United vs. LD Alajuelense - Leg 2 | April 13, 2021

Atlanta United defeated LD Alajuelense 1-0 Tuesday night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Leg Two of its Round of 16 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (SCCL) matchup, advancing to the Quarterfinals on an aggregate score of 2-0. Atlanta became the second MLS team to advance to the Quarterfinals in three consecutive years during the current era of the tournament (since 2008). Jürgen Damm scored the game’s lone goal, and his first with Atlanta United, in the first minute of stoppage time. In his first appearance of the season, Marcelino Moreno played a through ball to Ezequiel Barco down the left side of the field which created a two-on-one situation with Alajuelense goalkeeper Mauricio Vargas. Barco attempted to round Vargas, but his touch went into the path of Damm, who easily tapped in the goal. SUBSCRIBE to our channel! #UniteAndConquer
