Just one hour before Manchester United stunned the football world with the announcement they had re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar landed in Lisbon with his fiance Georgina Rodriguez. Ronaldo left Juventus after three seasons after telling coach Massimiliano Allegri that he was done with the Italian club. Both Manchester City and United had been linked to the 36-year-old, but the Portuguese ended up going back to the Red Devils, who dramatically announced just before 5pm on 27th August they had reached agreement with Juve to bring him back to Old Trafford. The deal was subject to the agreement of personal terms, issuing of a visa and a medical. Lionel Messi finalised agreement on his Paris Saint-Germain contract and was flying to France to complete the move that confirms the end of a career-long association with Barcelona. The 34-year-old Argentina star has agreed a two-year deal with the option for a further season, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told SNTV. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the contract ahead of it being signed and the official announcement. Messi is set to earn around 35 million euros (41 million USD) net annually, the person said. Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick of goals as Borussia Dortmund started the defence of their DFB Pokal title with a 3-0 win over hosts Wehen Wiesbaden. Ahead of the new season, FC Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman has said he hopes "we can have an agreement for more years" with club icon Lionel Messi. Koeman is embarking on his second campaign in charge of the Spanish giants, after guiding them to third place in La Liga and into the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League in his first. Barca did, though, win some silverware in the form of a Copa del Rey title, beating Athletic Club 4-0 in the final. Messi - who celebrated his first major international title when Argentina were victorious in the summer's Copa America - last week reportedly committed to staying at Camp Nou until 2026. But any agreement has not been made official. Koeman also highlighted the importance of new signing Sergio Aguero, saying that the Argentine is "really good quality in the box." Aguero signed a two-year-deal with the Catalan club after his Manchester City contract expired in June. Italy fans celebrated in Rome on Tuesday after the 'Azzurri' beat Spain in a penalty shoot-out at Wembley Stadium to reach the final of Euro 2020. After failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Italy has now set a new national record by going 33 games unbeaten. There were minor confrontations between supporters and police guarding the Rome fan zone before the match, but the evening ended in celebration as Jorginho scored the winning penalty kick.
