Newcastle parted ways with manager Steve Bruce on October 20th as its Saudi ownership began reshaping the team two weeks after buying the Premier League club. The decision is the first big call by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund that took control of the northeast English club, which is in the relegation zone eight matches into the season. Newcastle said Bruce left by βmutual consentβ after being in charge since July 2019. Fans were chanting for his firing during Sunday's 3-2 loss to Tottenham. βI am grateful to everyone connected with Newcastle United for the opportunity to manage this unique football club," Bruce said in a statement. βI would like to thank my coaching team, the players and the support staff in particular for all their hard work. There have been highs and lows, but they have given everything even in difficult moments and should be proud of their efforts. βThis is a club with incredible support, and I hope the new owners can take it forward to where we all want it to be. I wish everyone the very best of luck for the rest of this season and beyond.β Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo insists it's "bad news" after hearing of Steve Bruce leaving Newcastle via mutual consent. Nuno explained his relationship with Bruce and urged the former Newcastle boss to not completely retire from football, after media reports have suggested this is what Bruce may do. Reaction from Paris St-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino following a hard-fought 3-2 win over RB Leipzig in their UEFA Champions League Group A match. Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for PSG before goals from Andre Silva and Nordi Mukiele put Leipzig on course for a famous victory. But Lionel Messi came to PSG's rescue by scoring twice in the last half hour to secure the win for the French side. Mbappe won the penalty for Messi's winner but pointed straight at Messi to tell him he could take the spot kick. In Group A's other game, Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez scored twice as Manchester City crushed Club Brugge 5-1 in Belgium. PSG top the group with seven points from three games. City have six points, Club Brugge four, while Leipzig have now slumped to three straight defeats. 1. SOUNDBITE (Spanish): Mauricio Pochettino, Paris Saint-Germain head coach: (On Paris Saint-Germain's struggles during the match) "With time I am sure that certain things will work much better, everything will be smoother. But it's true that talent shines out, and players like Leo (Messi) obviously and Kylian (Mbappe) or Julian (Draxler), who were our most attacking players tonight, have huge talent and their connection goes beyond the work that they actually did together." 2. SOUNDBITE (Spanish): Mauricio Pochettino, Paris Saint-Germain head coach: (On Leipzig) "I think we conceded two goals while holding a man advantage, and I think we should look into that and improve in those situations. But we played against a team who scored three goals at Manchester City in the first Champions League matchday, so we should also respect the value of our opponents, who did a good job." 3. SOUNDBITE (Spanish): Mauricio Pochettino, Paris Saint-Germain head coach: (On Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi) "The talent of Kylian and Leo is pretty obvious, they play for Paris Saint-Germain and so in matches where the team as a whole cannot find the right answers, I think that such talented players can find solutions like they did today. This is why it is important to have players of this calibre in a team like Paris Saint-Germain who want to win every match." A small section of stand at Dutch top-flight club NEC Nijmegen's Goffert Stadium collapsed as fans of visiting Vitesse Arnhem celebrated their team's 1-0 victory. There were no reports of any injuries. Arnhem players were celebrating on the pitch in front of their fans when the lowest section of the stand collapsed. About 35 people were standing on the section that was affected. One player put his hands on his head when it happened before other players punched the air when it became apparent that nobody had been hurt. Fans quickly clambered upwards, away from the affected part of the stand. NEC director Wilco van Schaik told Dutch broadcaster NOS that, as far as he knew, nobody was injured. βThere was a container under the stand and that prevented anything more serious,β he said. A match of the second division of Rio Grande do Sul State Championship in Brazil was suspended after a player pushed a referee and kicked his head after he fell down, leaving him unconscious. The incident happened at the 60th minute of the match between Guarani, from the city of Venancio Aires, and Sao Paulo, from Rio Grande. Footage from the Federation's TV showed Ribeiro complaining he suffered a foul, the referee stopping the match to warn him and then Crivellaro being pushed to the ground and being hit by a kick from the player. The referee was rushed to a hospital nearby in the city of Venancio Aires in southern Brazil, where it was reported later that he was fine and in a stable condition. He's expected to be discharged on the afternoon of 5th October local time. The suspended match will be resumed on the same day. Ribeiro was arrested by Police and charged with attempted murder. Sport Club Sao Paulo released a statement, regretting "one of the saddest episodes in their history" and that the player's contract with the club was terminated. The incident happened on the day that Sao Paulo was celebrating their 123th anniversary. SOURCE: FGF TV Visit the WeShow Football store: https://www.youtube.com/weshowfootball/store LIKE our videos? Reaction from AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli as a last-gasp penalty by Luis Suarez saw Atletico Madrid come from behind to win 2-1 at the San Siro in UEFA Champions League Group B. Rafael Leao scored for Milan in the 20th minute only for midfielder Franck Kessie to be sent off soon after for a second yellow card offence. Antoine Griezmann then brought Atletico level late in the second half before Suarez netted the winner in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Liverpool took the group with six points, two clear of Atletico. Porto are third on one point while Milan lie bottom with zero. 1. SOUNDBITE (Italian): Stefano Pioli, AC Milan head coach: "We could all see that we were dominating, so our performance while we were still 11 on the pitch must give us huge confidence and belief in our quality. Franck (Kessie) did commit a foul, and perhaps it was avoidable, but it was a foul that can happen in play. It did not deserve a second yellow, leaving us with 10 men after 30 minutes during a Champions League match. About the penalty, I don't know if it was a penalty or not, it was so fast. But the referee called it immediately, and we have a lot of regret because the result could have been positive anyway, and we would have deserved it because of the effort of our players and the support our fans gave us." 2. SOUNDBITE (Italian): Stefano Pioli, AC Milan head coach: "Brahim (Diaz) suffers from knee tendinitis and it is kind of a chronic thing, he has it every now and then. He is working on it, it got worse in the second half. Now we have a few days to recover and I hope he will indeed recover in time for Sunday night."
