Dylan O'Hearn scored a program-record 42 points, including 36 after halftime, to help lead the NJIT men's basketball team to a come-from-behind 90-86 victory in double overtime against host Lafayette on Sunday afternoon.. Fifteen of O'Hearn's points came during the two overtime periods as the senior was the only NJIT player to score after regulation. The victory was the third in a row for the Highlanders, who are now 5-3 on the season, while Lafayette fell to 2-6 on the season. NJIT's three-game winning streak is its first since January of 2019. The NJIT men's basketball team raced out to a huge, first-half lead before making critical plays down the stretch to hold off visiting Sacred Heart in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at the Wellness and Events Center. Coleman finished with 24 points, including 18 after halftime, to help the Highlanders even their record at 3-3.
Miles Coleman scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down a career-best 10 rebounds for his first double-double as a Highlander on Wednesday as the NJIT men's basketball team held off visiting Fairleigh Dickinson 62-54 in a mid-week matinee at the Wellness and Events Center. NJIT (2-2) is now 7-0 all-time against FDU (0-4), including 6-0 as a Division I program. "It was a tough, hard-fought win," explained Head Coach Brian Kennedy. "We knew they would throw a lot at us, and they definitely did. But, I think we handled it well."
Fairleigh Dickinson used a big second half, scoring 40 second half points on its way to a 65-55 win at home against visiting NJIT Wednesday afternoon at the Rothman Center.
