“...I'm not drained now. I'm fired up and ready to go.” Nebraska had a chance to get the win over Iowa, but a number of mistakes kept the Huskers away from victory. Fred Hoiberg didn't have a major issue with the number of three-point attempts, but said they need to be good looks. "Too much playing stagnant and playing without the movement we usually have," Hoiberg said following Nebraska's 69-66 loss to Nevada. "When we have movement, we get good shots." As a note, the audio doesn't kick in for a few seconds at the beginning.
One of the more forgettable days of the Scott Frost era at Nebraska is going to prove pretty tough to forget. The Huskers (1-3), a two-touchdown favorite, fell behind Illinois (2-3) early on Saturday at Memorial Stadium on their way to a 41-23 loss. The offense struggled in Luke McCaffrey's second start at quarterback, turning the ball over five times. The defense had little success stopping the Illini at all. Illinois' 28 first-half points were its most in a Big Ten game since 2010 and Nebraska was never really able to chip away at the lead. All of which is to say, there's plenty to talk about from this one. To do that, managing editor Brandon Vogel and recruiting analyst Greg Smith talk through the offense's struggles, the defense's disappointing day and some of the big-picture concerns facing the Huskers in year three under Frost.
Cam Jurgens was sore on Saturday and Sunday as he worked back from a foot that kept him out against Northwestern. He was back for Penn State though. "Going through the week I was seeing how much I could functionally do," he said. ". . . Just being a football player, you're going to go through things." bit.ly/3pBcLlK
