Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has paid tribute to his former Liverpool boss Gérard Houllier, following the news of his passing yesterday. Houllier had arguably a bigger influence on Gerrard's career than any other manager, naming him Liverpool captain at just 23 years of age. Gerrard described Houllier as 'more than a manager' in his pre-match Rangers press conference on Tuesday morning. After Wolves were comfortably beaten by Liverpool on Sunday night, the Analysing Anfield podcast is back to review that game and preview the trip to Fulham next weekend. Josh Williams and David Hughes also talk Gini Wijnaldum's contract situation, and why a new deal for the Dutch midfielder is not necessarily the right thing to do for the Reds long-term. They also reflect on Roberto Firmino's upturn in form, plus look ahead to the Champions League clash with FC Midtjylland on Wednesday. Caoimhin Kelleher, Neco Williams and Curtis Jones are among those young starlets impressing for Liverpool at the moment and all three could feature in that game. After discussing that trip, talk turns to Fulham and why Scott Parker's side are probably better than you might think, with a couple of players to watch for among their ranks including André-Frank Zambo Anguissa. Mohamed Salah was reunited with his Liverpool team-mates this afternoon for a training session ahead of the Champions League clash with Atalanta. Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino was absent from the session but it is understood that he was simply training elsewhere away from the cameras and there is no injury concern over him. Firmino, of course, was among the scorers as Liverpool beat Leicester City at Anfield over the weekend. The same result - by any scoreline - would see Jurgen Klopp's side through to the knockout stages with two matches to spare tomorrow night, while they can also top the group if they win and Ajax fail to beat FC Midtjylland in the Netherlands. Liverpool's injury list is lengthy, with Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita all missing as expected, as well as longer-term absentees Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Liverpool's performance against Leicester City in the Premier League was almost perfect - and the numbers show it. Join Josh Williams and David Hughes as they talk through and analyse that game, plus look ahead to the Champions League clash with Atalanta - a team that Liverpool tore apart just three weeks ago. Liverpool smashed five past the Italian outfit last time out, and their attack so far this season is proving to be the difference in getting them over the line in matches. As the numbers show, the addition of Diogo Jota, plus existing forwards like Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, are helping the Reds generate the most chances in the Premier League, and statistically of the highest quality. As Liverpool push forward to retain their league title and head into the latter stages of the Champions League, their stellar front line could be crucial, as the Analysing Anfield hosts explain. Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, as well as Thiago, are pictured at the AXA Training Centre today as Liverpool step up their preparations for Sunday's visit of Leicester City at Anfeld. Thiago, who has been sidelined since he was injured by a poor tackle from Everton forward Richarlison in the Merseyside derby, did not appear to take part in the gym session, which was overseen by fitness coach Andeas Kornmayer. But fellow midfielder Fabinho, who has missed Liverpool's last three games through injury, did take an active part, in what could be a huge boost ahead of the clash with Brendan Rodgers' table-topping Leicester team. Some of the Reds players who have been away on international duty were also pictured, including captain Jordan Henderson, who earlier in the week withdrew from the England squad after asking to come off in Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Belgium. Andy Robertson, who also picked up an injury for Scotland before returning in midweek, appeared to watch the session from the canteen area overlooking the gym, but he did not take part, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was later spotted training by himself out on the turf as he continues his rehabilitation. Diogo Jota was back after he performed well once more for Portugal, as were Naby Keita and Sadio Mane after their international exertions, as Matt Addison reports. Virgil van Dijk had to come off injured in the first half of Liverpool's 2-2 Merseyside derby draw with Everton after a horror challenge from Jordan Pickford. Reports suggest the defender may have suffered a torn ACL, meaning he could be out of action for 7-8 months. Liverpool Football Club are yet to release an official statement, but for now, here is the Liverpool ECHO's chief LFC writer Ian Doyle with the latest.
