Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane training separately after Porto | Liverpool prepare for Southampton
Liverpool's stars who didn't start against Porto on Wednesday night were back in training in Kirkby on Thursday, as Jurgen Klopp's men prepared to take on Southampton at the weekend. Diogo Jota, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Divock Origi and others all played a part in the session, with those who started in the Champions League - like Thiago Alcantara and Ibrahima Konate - doing a recovery session away from the cameras. There did not appear to be any players returning from injury, while Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were both shown running with a fitness coach but not taking part in any of the drills involving a ball given they played the majority of the game against Porto, as Matt Addison reports. Liverpool Jurgen Klopp is asked about Mohamed Salah, comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo, and his contract, in the first embargoed section of his press conference to preview the Premier League match at Manchester United on Sunday. After the press conference, quotes emerged from Salah about the possibility of extending his Liverpool contract, which runs out in the summer of 2023.
