Jihlava ; German: Iglau) is a city in the Czech Republic. Jihlava is the capital of the Vysočina Region, situated on the Jihlava river (German Igel) on the historical border between Moravia and Bohemia, and is the oldest mining town in the Czech Republic, approximately 50 years older than Kutná Hora.
Jihlava District is one of the five sub-divisions of Kraj Vysočina in the Czech Republic. In 2012 it had a population of 112,000.
