Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Lady Techsters, commonly abbreviated La. Tech and Dawgs, refer to the sports teams of Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, Louisiana.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football program represents Louisiana Tech University in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level. After 12 seasons in the Western Athletic Conference, Louisiana Tech began competing as a member of Conference USA in 2013.
During the 1930s the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, a college football team representing Louisiana Tech University, played in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association until 1939, when the team played in the Louisiana Intercollegiate Conference (LIC). The Bulldogs' best performance that decade was in 1931, when they won all their matches.
During the 1950s the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team were playing in the Gulf States Conference. Their best seasons were 1955 and 1959: in both seasons they won 9 matches and lost 1.
During the 1980s the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team twice won the Southland Conference, then left that Conference in 1986, joining the newly created non–football American South Conference as a charter member, becoming an independent team playing in NCAA Division I. The team reached the finals of the Division I-AA Championship in 1984.
