We moved back into the top four thanks to a pulsating victory over Manchester United. It was a highly charged, incident-packed encounter from start to finish. Nuno Tavares and Bukayo Saka fired us into a two-goal lead inside half an hour, before United rallied to halve the deficit through Cristiano Ronaldo. Bruno Fernandes then missed a penalty before Granit Xhaka sealed the points with a superb 25-yard drive. These lunchtime kick offs can often have a sedate atmosphere early on. Not this one. The crowd were up for it from the kick off, and the team responded immediately. There were just two minutes on the clock when Tavares gave us the lead. Xhaka’s deep cross was missed by everyone in the United defence and found its way though to Saka. His shot was parried by David de Gea but Tavares was in the right place at the far post to tuck home. It was the full back’s first goal for the club since joining from Benfica last summer. United came back. Anthony Elanga had a low shot well saved by Aaron Ramsdale before Gabriel put in a great block after Ramsdale had presented the ball to Fernandes. Diogo Dalot was next to go close for the visitors, curling a shot from 20 yards over the keeper and against the crossbar. Chances were coming at both ends, and Eddie Nketiah had a great chance after being slid through on goal by Martin Odegaard but his shot was straight at de Gea. Moments later Nketiah thought he had beaten the keeper, only for the goal to be ruled out by VAR for a very close offside call. However there was a foul on Saka in the build up, and a spot kick was awarded instead. For the second time in a week the England man stepped up and netted from the penalty spot. The two-goal advantage didn’t last long. United had been a threat throughout the opening half hour, and pulled a goal back through Cristiano Ronaldo, who stole in at the far post to fire home a looping cross. Ramsdale’s moment of hesitation proved costly. The first half was action-packed, and had flown by. Odegaard had another shot tipped away in injury-time – one of six attempts on target in the opening 45 minutes for us. Tavares should have hit the target soon after the interval. He found space inside the box, beat his man superbly, but blazed a shot high and wide. Tavares’s eventful afternoon continued when he gave away a penalty for handball. Fernandes stepped up, but his shot hit the post and went behind for a goal kick. It was a big let off, and moments later there was another when Ronaldo’s goal was ruled out for offside by the barest of margins. Ramsdale came up with a huge save at his near post to turn Dalot’s shot onto the woodwork. We were living dangerously, but Granit Xhaka’s fierce drive relieved the pressure. He picked up the ball five yards outside the box, shifted it on to his trusty left foot, and arrowed his shot beyond the despairing de Gea just inside the post. The Emirates erupted. With the two-goal cushion restored, we closed out the game to earn a second big win in the space of four days. Nuno made two key changes. No Dele Alli, and he dispensed with his trusty 4-3-3 and opted for a radical 4-2-3-1. This allowed our midfield to function more satisfactorily than it has been, not to mention providing our backline with notably more cover. Sergio Reguilon had a much-improved game. For example 92% passing accuracy. But if we’re honest with ourselves, his passing accuracy and total successful actions numbers routinely jump up when we play lesser opponents. Against Slovenian minnows, – 90%Now you can furrow your brow all you want, but that’s the truth. Against Arsenal and Chelsea his passing slumped to 77% 82% respectively Romero finally had a decent league game – you will recall his only other was against Chelsea. His passing accuracy was low at 80%, but he was nice and busy elsewhere 77% duels won, 8 interceptions, and 60% of his aerial duels. Emerson was hit-and-miss. 8 interceptions, 70% duels won, all undone by losing the ball 21 times, 7 times in our half. Dier was solid enough, hitting 90% passing accuracy, making useful long passes, and winning 63% of his duels, plus 6 interceptions Hojbjerg was back to his best form. Beyond what was a truly intelligent goal, we saw a 93% passing accuracy 3/3 successful dribbles, plus 5 interceptions Skipp did not have a great game. 92% passing accuracy was pleasing, but as a defensive midfielder, he was close to being as scary as a ‘caution wet floor’ sign, winning just 3 of 20 attempted duels. Just 2 interceptions. Tanguy struggled. Lost possession 13 times, on 4 occasions in our half. Should have been hooked at halftime. 4/4 successful dribbles Lo Celso’s 19-minutes yielded little of note, beyond 3/3 successful crosses – but Nuno might consider this Plan B if he can’t ever squeeze more than 50/60 minutes out of the Frenchman. Moura offered plenty of huff and puff but achieved very little. His average incidents of possession loss are 12 per game. Here, he hit 19 occasions, 7 of which were in the Spurs half. Sonny had an influential game. An assist and 2 shot assists, plus an unrelenting appetite to make a difference A stark contrast to Harry Kane whose numbers look like he wasn’t on the pitch for very long, despite his 96-minutes of involvement. 4 shots on target, 1 successful long pass, 1 successful dribble, 1 successful cross. Lost the ball 16 times, one 4 occasions in our own half. I appreciate own goals are borne out of pressure, but whilst this game was an improvement, the fireworks should be stored in a cool dry place until they are truly deserved. tottenham, tottenham hotspur, tottenham fan tv,tottenham vs crystal palace, daniel levy, spurs, spurs fan tv,harry kane, harry kane talking, harry winks, japhet tanganga tottenham, spurs, tottenham hotspur, premier league, 토트넘, 손흥민, pl heung min son, prem, tottenham highlights, spurs highlights, spurs training, son heung min, nuno espirito santo, epl, premier league highlights, hotspurs, tottenham goals, spurs goals,pl highlights, harry kane tottenham, thfc,pl 20-21, tottenham vs man city, tottenham vs city, lucas moura, cdefense, Harry Kane. Manchester United have triumphed over a stubborn Burnley outfit. Manchester United put 3 goals past Burnley to overcome a 1 - 1 stalemate. While Manchester United had a huge amount of possession, there wasn't much attacking threat which lead to a rather frustrating first half for Manchester United . Mason Greenwood scored with his trusty left foot after Marcus Rashford put through a ball after beating his man on the wing. James Tarkowski equalized shortly thereafter as he out muscled Harry Maguire to score from a set piece. Manchester United concede yet again from a set piece. Manchester United were threatening for the duration of the 2nd half but could not break the deadlock. Mason Greenwood stayed wide as Paul Pogba floated the ball to him. Greenwood then stayed wide, cut in and scored with the help of a deflection! Donny Van de Beek came on late in the 2nd half to provide Edinson Cavani with an easy tap in after Luke Shaw snatched the ball off Burnley to initiate the counter attack. Manchester United take the 3 points and close the gap to the log leaders, Manchester City, to 8 points. With 6 games left in the season and 18 points to at stake, do you think Manchester United have what it takes to win all 6 and keep the pressure on City? Manchester City have lost to Leeds United, Manchester United and Chelsea within the space of 5 weeks which was unimaginable a couple of weeks ago. ================== The United Show SA is now on Instagram as well as Facebook!
