JACK GAUGHAN AT THE ETIHAD: The game was up when Ruben Dias acted the overlapping left back and planted a deep cross straight into the arms of Vicente Guaita. Everybody sighed. Dias genuinely believes he can do everything but idea of the rugged centre half fashioning an equaliser from that area of the pitch was nonsensical. That Dias found himself out there at all spoke to a frenzied, confused Manchester City. When they do lose, they lose rather dramatically. Pep Guardiola will fear the implications of this result on their title defence, now five points behind Chelsea. The only consolation for him is that Liverpool also dropped home points on a mad afternoon. Crystal Palace deserved this, excellently drilled by Patrick Vieira - once tipped to eventually take the top job at the Etihad Stadium - and left with only a second Premier League victory under his stewardship. Bournemouth 1-2 Chelsea REVIEW: Armando Broja & Ugbo SCORES | Callum Hudson-Odoi IMPRESSIVE | Pre-Season Match Yardbarker (Match Report): Chelsea kicked off their pre-season proper with a fiercely competitive 2-1 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Blues made the trip to face their infamous Premier League bogey side, now under the stewardship of one Scott Parker - who needs no introduction to Chelsea fans. Despite yielding no goals, the first half was a tight affair played with great spirit and intensity. Tammy Abraham went close thrice with the best chances for either side. Thomas Tuchel rung the changes at half-time, introducing seven new faces for the second half and only retaining Callum Hudson-Odoi, Marcos Alonso, Conor Gallagher and Abraham. The Cherries took the lead in the 66th minute, with Emiliano Marcondes stealing a march in the middle to bundle home - but the Pensioners had completed a quickfire double just ten minutes later, with Armando Broja and Ike Ugbo finishing off sumptuous deliveries from Baba Rahman and Ross Barkley. Plenty of food for thought for trainer Thomas Tuchel, and it'll be something to chew on quickly given next up for the Blues is a saunter across London to take on bitter rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. Former Manchester United and Argentina left back Gabriel Heinze has been sacked as Atlanta United manager after just 13 league games and two wins in charge. The 43-year-old took over last December following Frank de Boer's sacking and the interim stewardship of Stephen Glass, with the team finishing 12th out of the 14 teams in the 2020 Eastern Conference before Heinze's arrival. Heinze leaves the Five Stripes with the club having accrued just 13 points from as many games in this season's Eastern Conference, with his final match at the helm a 1-0 home defeat to New England Revolution.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde stumped by shock Leganes defeat Published: 01:48 EDT, 27 September 2018 | Updated: 04:36 EDT, 27 September 2018 Ernesto Valverde was at a loss to explain Barcelona's first defeat of the season after Leganes pulled off a stunning upset at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque. Leganes had taken just one point from their opening five matches and would have sensed a fruitless night lay in store after falling behind to Philippe Coutinho's excellent 12th-minute volley. The hosts grew steadily stronger thereafter and quickfire goals from Nabil El Zhar and Real Madrid loanee Oscar Rodriguez after half-time lifted them to a famous 2-1 victory.
