The San Francisco 49ers fell short of their preseason expectations, losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. For San Francisco, it was a wild playoff run after the team started the regular year at 3-5. Two big road wins against the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers in the playoffs added another layer to this. However, another 49ers season came to a conclusion in a disappointing fashion. That included blowing a 17-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Jimmy Garoppolo was downright brutal in the final stanza. The 49ers’ defense struggled to contain Matthew Stafford. Meanwhile, head coach Kyle Shanahan’s decision-making will again be called into question. Where do the 49ers go from here after falling one game short of their second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons? Was that horrible Garoppolo interception his final pass in a 49ers uniform? The Las Vegas Raiders still have an opportunity to earn a playoff spot under interim head coach Rich Bisaccia. A win Sunday night at home against the Los Angeles Chargers would push Vegas to 10-7 and lead to a postseason appearance. Even then, there’s strong rumors coming out of the desert that Bisaccia will not be given the full-time job to replace disgraced recently-departed head man Jon Gruden. One specific big name has been bandied about as a potential candidate to in Las Vegas. Hours before their regular-season finale at Allegiant Stadium, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the Las Vegas Raiders are looking to go after a “rock star” head coach and could look to trade for one. At this point, we wouldn’t put it past owner Mark Davis. He wants to make that big splash as the Raiders finish up their second season in Sin City after relocating from Oakland. Off the field, this season has brought a ton of drama the Raiders’ way. That includes Gruden’s resignation and the tragic events surrounding former first-round pick Henry Ruggs. The Minnesota Vikings have officially been eliminated from playoff contention following Sunday night’s blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers. Playing without Kirk Cousins (COVID-19), the Vikes couldn’t do anything on offense with Sean Mannion under center. Their defense didn’t have a chance against Aaron Rodgers and Co. With rumors swirling about Mike Zimmer’s future in the Twin Cities, we’re also going to hear more about whether Cousins fits into Minnesota’s future. Statistically, Cousins has been pretty good in Minnesota. Unfortunately, he continues to come up small when it counts the most (32-29-1 record with the Vikings). Cousins, 33, is also slated to count a whopping $45 million against the cap in 2022. Minnesota can get out from under that via a trade while saving roughly $10 million. * Kirk Cousins stats: 66.4% completion, 3,971 yards, 30 touchdowns, seven interceptions, 101.3 rating It’s not yet known whether the Vikings will blow things up this coming off-season. In addition to Zimmer, general manager Rick Spielman could very well be on the hot seat. How that plays out will have a huge role in the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback situation. Below, we look at five options for the team. 1. Minnesota Vikings roll with Kellen Mond 2. Minnesota Vikings trade for Jimmy Garoppolo 3. Minnesota Vikings stick with Kirk Cousins 4. Minnesota Vikings trade for Deshaun Watson 5.
