Rugby Coaching | The Tackle, South African Style! | Stormers v Lions 2021 | Rugby Analysis
I've posted a plain version of this clip from Stormers v British and Irish Lions to give you the opportunity of your own Rugby Analysis! In this video I've provided a detailed breakdown of the technical and tactical aspects of the tackle! The nature of rugby union means that the environment is often highly variable. In that case tackles exist in a dynamic environment where players have to constantly adapt their process to achieve the outcome of stopping an opponent from progressing. In this video I've picked out some technical and tactical details that help Stormers tight head, Fouche, make an excellent tackle of Beirne. Some of the key points are: - Chest up high until the bite zone is reached (the point at which the tackle is the final option). - Plant feet so that knees are bent, allowing for a hip tilt and contact with the shoulder followed by a chase of the feet with studs in the ground until tackle completion. - Arms in tight and punch/slingshot them through the tackle immediately upon making shoulder contact. - Aim for the hip crease and if required step around the tackle to unbalance the ball carrier further. - Use each arm to grab a separate lever. â–ºSupport my content on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GDDCoaching â–ºSUBSCRIBE for new video notifications: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD â–ºTwitter https://twitter.com/daviesGDD â–ºYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeraintDaviesGDD The video match footage is not in any way owned by myself - credit goes to the British and Irish Lions.
