A desperately disappointing afternoon saw the Reds’ mood turn as nasty as the weather as London Scottish inflicted a first home defeat in the league this season. The Reds were hoping to move up the Christmas charts but ended up with just a losing bonus point by way of consolation. With bright and dry conditions giving way to wind and rain as the players warmed up, the Scots made a strong start and forced a stream of penalties from the home side, the third of which was kicked through the uprights by Will Magie. The Reds recovered and on their first serious visit to Scottish territory made ground from a maul. TJ Harris made a break for the line, and then another which saw him barge his way over for a try, well converted by Brendan Cope. Cope and Magie traded penalties during the closing stages of the half before the sides headed to the sanctuary of the dressing rooms. The Reds spent almost the whole of the third quarter in their opponents’ half but couldn’t come away with points, and Exiles’ fly-half Magie took advantage with some fine clearing kicks to put the home side on the back foot. Once they had gained a platform in the Reds 22, the Scots were ruthless, pressing forward in a series of phases before Bright spotted a chink in the defence as he picked up from the base of a ruck and cantered straight through to the posts. There were opportunities for the home side to win the game in the last 15 minutes, including several penalty awards, but possession was lost at two attacking lineouts and the visitors held out determinedly for the win Reds’ director of rugby Harvey Biljon said he was frustrated and disappointed by the outcome. “It was a very tough day at the office for both teams in those conditions, but we didn’t feel that we got the right reward from the breakdown and several critical decisions didn’t go our way,” he said.

HBO Sports is collaborating with LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s digital media company, Uninterrupted, to present the unscripted series The Shop, exclusively on HBO. Offering unfiltered conversation and debate with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, the show will air periodically throughout the year. The series features a lineup starring four-time NBA MVP LeBron James and Maverick Carter. Among the headliners on the first show are rap icon Snoop Dogg, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, three-time NBA champion Draymond Green, two-time WNBA MVP Candace Parker and Peabody and Emmy winner Jon Stewart. The Shop gives viewers a one-of-a-kind barbershop experience, which for many provides a sanctuary for free-flowing and spirited discussions. The series will visit barbershops around the country to gather distinguished individuals who can speak honestly on sports, music, pop culture, world events, business and other culturally relevant topics. “The Shop is exactly why we created Uninterrupted,” says James. “Anyone who has been in a real barbershop, like the ones where I grew up, knows why this show can be so incredible. Shocking Japanese whale Hunting #whalehunting
A Japanese harpoon strikes the whale with a stomach-turning thud. The exhausted animal is hauled from the water, flesh torn, purple organs spilling from its body. This is the shocking evidence of a Japanese whaling hunt in an Australian whale sanctuary that the federal government did not want you to see. Australian authorities refused to release the video at the request of charity Sea Shepherd in 2012 over fears it would damage the country’s relationships with Tokyo. But the shocking footage – filmed in 2008 by a customs official – has now been made available after a prolonged Freedom of Information bid by the anti-whaling group. The video shows a so-called Japanese “research” vessel slaughtering minke whales, capturing the moment one is hit by an explosive harpoon before being reeled into the ship. Jeff Hansen, Sea Shepherd’s managing director, said the whales were being hunted in an Australian Southern Ocean whale sanctuary.

After many years of experience, when he was retired at the Kita no Tenman-gu sanctuary in Kyoto to compile his researches, he had a great revelation while he was watching a “Yoryu” willow bending under the wind. He founded his school and named it “Tenjin Shinyo Ryu”, by using the name of Tenmangu’s divinity, “Tenshin” (the spirit of Michizane), and by picking one character out of each school he used to practice before: “Shin” and “Yo”. At the end of the Shogunate, he was teaching to over 5,000 students, and among 170 schools of Jujutsu, his claimed to surpass the others by far, and the warriors of numerous clans were competing to train there. At the beginning of the Meiji era, in 1877, the founder of the Kodokan Jigoro Kano Shihan passed the gate of Shihan Fukuda Yanosuke’s house to train there.
