He recently provided an update on Durant's progress and said, "With this kind of injury, you tend to get better every day. And he's getting treatment 24/7. I think it's a good sign." It's evident that Durant is eager to get back on the court and make his long-awaited debut at Footprint Center. As Williams stated, "Kevin wants to play. I hate answering these kinds of things because if I say something, it becomes a thing, you know? I think it shows how much he wants to play. I haven't received many reports other than he's progressing." Durant was expected to make his home debut for the Suns on March 8, but unfortunately slipped during warm-ups, twisting his left ankle. This season has been plagued by injuries for Durant, who was sidelined for over a month after suffering a medial collateral ligament sprain in January. Coach Williams also gave an update on Landry Shamet's right foot injury, saying, "He's just getting shots up. He's pretty much the same. He's just getting more treatment. Just trying to figure out, how do we get him back to a place where he can practice and progress from there?" Shamet has been out of the lineup with a right foot injury since January 16. It's clear that injuries have been a major hurdle for the Phoenix Suns this season. If they want to make a deep playoff run, they'll need to get healthy quickly. The Lakers official Twitter account announced the decision on Friday afternoon. “LeBron James’ left ankle was recently reevaluated by Lakers medical staff, and it was determined that due to the ankle sprain James suffered in a game on March 27th, he will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season to allow for continued healing and an expected full recovery,” the team wrote. On April 1, LeBron took to Twitter with an April Fools “joke” claiming that he would be out for the remainder of the season. After dropping 38 points against the New Orleans Pelicans later that night, the 37-year-old superstar’s joke ended up coming true. The Lakers were eliminated from playoff contention with a loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Because of this, no one is too surprised that LeBron is cutting Year 19 short. The ESPN analyst took to his Twitter page to react. Bayless referred to James' ankle injury as an "excuse."
