Du coup, la demande de jours de repos supplémentaires a agacé Ten Hag. Dans les plaignants, on retrouve Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Raphaël Varane, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez et le gardien de but remplaçant Tom Heaton, bien que tous ne se soient pas plaints et que la grande majorité de l’équipe soutient le manager. L’équipe de Pep Guardiola a pris les devants pour le "petit diable", mais les Blues sont prêts à tout mettre en œuvre pour le recruter.» Le jeune Argentin de 17 ans, qui évolue à River Plate, suscite l’intérêt de toute l’Europe, à l’image des clubs comme l’AS Roma, l’AC Milan, Feyenoord, Genk, le Real Madrid, le PSG et le FC Barcelone. Sous contrat jusqu’en décembre 2024 et disposant d’une clause libératoire de 25 M€, qui peut grimper à 30 M€ en fonction de la date du transfert, celui qui est souvent comparé à Lionel Messi va devoir faire son choix parmi de nombreux prétendants. Sauf que Manchester City pourrait passer devant toute la concurrence pour l’enrôler. Les Cityzens auraient un avantage en raison de leur proximité avec River Plate, après le transfert de Julián Álvarez notamment.
