Mohammad Shami was excellent too and ended with 3 for 41. But it was Alzarri Joseph who bowled a fiery spell in the middle overs and took the big wickets of David Warner and Rilee Rossouw to put Gujarat on top of things. Gujarat will be pleased with their bowling effort and will now look to start strong with the bat. Some fine hitting from Axar Patel at the end has got Delhi to 162 for 8 in their 20 overs. Having put into bat first Delhi got off to a scratchy start. Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh failed to impress once again. Delhi were two down inside the first five overs. David Warner and Sarfaraz Khan steadied the innings for a while but Gujarat came roaring back and reduced Delhi to 67 for 4. Some handy runs from debutant Abishek Porel and Sarfaraz and a quickfire 22-ball-36 from Axar Patel have taken Delhi over 160. Nicely timed and Wriddhiman Saha is up and running here! Good length again but he offers a bit of width. Saha goes on the back foot and caresses it through cover-point for a boundary. Up and over! Pitches this one up around off Wriddhiman Saha just lofts it back over the bowler's head and clears mid off. The ball rolls away into the fence. Swung away and Wriddhiman Saha has taken a liking to the Impact Player here. Just short of a length over leg stump Saha stands tall and whips it away over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. 14 off the first over of the chase a good one for Gujarat. Put away first ball! Starts off with a short and wide one Shubman Gill stays on the back foot and just taps it away in front of point to get off the mark with a boundary. Wow what timing! Back of a length around off Shubman Gill stands tall and just punches it on the up. The ball races away through the cover region for a boundary. An attempted Yorker at 147.9 clicks on middle. Shubman Gill bunts the low full toss toward mid on and scampers through for a quick run. In the air but hit crisply! Fullish length outside off Sai Sudharsan plants the front foot forward and drives it firmly through cover-point for a boundary. TIMBER! Anrich Nortje strikes first ball and the Delhi crowd goes wild! Top delivery from Nortje as he begins with a good-length ball on off stump. This is bowled at 143.5 clicks and jags back in sharply off the deck. Wriddhiman Saha looks to hang back and defend but the ball zips through bat and pad to knock over the top of middle stump. Nortje is all pumped up and Delhi have an early breakthrough here. KNOCKS HIM OVER! Anrich Nortje gets rid of the dangerman and Delhi are right back in it. Nortje bowls this from a bit wider of the crease and on a hard length around off stump. This is served at 148.8 clicks and the ball just skids on after hitting the deck. Shubman Gill is caught on the back foot and before he tries to get a bat on it he gets cut in half. The ball destroys the stumps behind Gill and Nortje picks up his second wicket. Cheeky but brilliant from Sai Sudharsan! Anrich Nortje comes from around the wicket and bowls it full and at the stumps at over 144 clicks. Sudharsan simply shuffles across and scoops it back over the keeper's head and over the ropes for a maximum. Slower one from Anrich Nortje full and outside off. Hardik Pandya picks it up and creams the cover drive through the gap for a boundary. Lovely shot from Sai Sudharsan and the 50 is up for Gujarat. Khaleel Ahmed serves it full and around off stump Sudharsan whips it away in between mid on and mid-wicket for a boundary. #kobe #alwaysandforever Thanks for watching! Thumbs up, comment, share. Sub/🔔 for new Kobe videos. - Continuing with the “no dribbles” theme, Kobe exhibits another minimalistic and efficient method to isolation scoring. While it may seem basic, there are a few layers to this move. Work is done prior to the pass, during the pass, and on the catch. Stationed at the elbows, the triangle’s (weak-side) pinch post, or 15-18 foot wing area with his back to the basket, he utilizes footwork to create space from his defender. If Kobe’s mid-post position is established well before the entry pass, he’s able to feel his matchup. 0:37, 0:44, and 0:51 present the defender sitting squarely behind him. This makes for a simple step out as the pass comes in. Displayed at 2:00, 2:12, 3:40 - as ball meets outside hand (left), Kobe plants his right foot into the defender, almost between their feet which are now perpendicular to his. Nearly simoultaneously, he extends his left foot away from the defender, completing a split-like catch. He keeps his left slightly elevated until his right foot lands. This allows him to push off his right and gain distance in his left. With his right leg, hip, and shoulder still very close to or in contact with the defender’s stance, Kobe quickly pulls his right foot back/out towards his left, creating separation. In situations where he’s jostling for position en route to the desired mid range spot - 3:16, 3:46, 4:18, the same footwork is applied. However, a handful of instances show Kobe’s defender giving him room before the catch. This approach is met with a slightly different response. Instead of digging that right foot in, he simply reverts to just the push off part of the footwork - 1:47 and 3:34. In cases where the defender plays tight but reacts slowly, a great amount of separation is made, freeing up an undisrupted jumper - 3:28, 3:58, 4:35. When Kobe is isolated on the left side of the floor, another layer gets added to the footwork. With his right foot and right hand now top side, a partial twist becomes necessary on the split - 1:21, 2:25, 2:45. The Houston one at 5:02 is impeccable, so smooth. You can see the defender hesitate for a second, realizing that more than an arm’s length distance had been made. By then it was too late. While the footwork is less textbook at 5:14 in Utah, the play itself is amazing. Kobe lets the ball travel to him, keeping Brewer on his back and taking him from a step inside the arc to a step below the free throw line in the process. As Kobe lands on the catch, he counters the momentum. Ronnie is a fraction late in doing so himself. Kobe fades and knocks it down. We also see a pair of duck-ins at 4:04 and 4:48. Undefeated two-time super middleweight world champion David “The Mexican Monster” Benavidez retained his Interim WBC Super Middleweight Title with a bruising unanimous decision victory over former world champion Caleb Plant in the SHOWTIME PPV main event Saturday night from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions. The judges’ final tallies were 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113. The highly anticipated showdown between super middleweight rivals turned into the intriguing clash of styles that many predicted it would be, as Plant’s boxing acumen carried the early action until the brute force and high-volume power punching of Benavidez took over. After 12 grueling rounds in front of a sold out arena, the two fighters squashed their years long beef, embracing and expressing their mutual respect. “I know there was a lot said between us but in the end we settled this like men,” said Benavidez. “I’m happy we gave the fans the best rivalry of the year or the last five years. I’m just very happy.” “It’s a big rivalry but that’s what boxing is all about,” said Plant. “We came here and settled it like men. I take nothing from David. We haven’t been the best of friends but we got into the ring and we settled it like men. That’s what you’re supposed to do. He’s a helluva fighter.” According to CompuBox, Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) held a large advantage in power punches landed (180-68) but also out-landed Plant in jabs (30-23). Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) was the busier fighter, throwing 624 to Benavidez’s 551, but was unable to deter the late round onslaught from Benavidez. “I knew I had to take it step by step and round by round,” said Benavidez. “Caleb is a tough fighter. He’s not going to give you everything in the first few rounds so you have to find him. But I feel like I didn’t just show that I was a power puncher tonight. I showed that I had defense and head movement and I was able to move around the ring and cut the ring off really good.” Plant’s movement appeared to give Benavidez trouble throughout the early action, as Plant consistently landed two to three punch combinations and escape Benavidez’s counters. It wasn’t until round eight that Plant’s movement began to slow down and his attempts at holding were increasingly thwarted. “I was trying to hold him when necessary, punch him when necessary, and throw my combinations when necessary,” said Plant. “But when the best get in there with the best, you roll the dice and someone is going to come out with their hand raised and someone will come up short. And one thing that I pride myself on is that I roll with the best in the world. I haven’t ducked anyone and maybe we can have a rematch in the future.” As the fight moved into the championship rounds, Benavidez pushed forward more aggressively, busting Plant’s nose and peppering him with short hooks from all angles. Plant stayed on his feet for the final bell, but his final attempts to turn the tide were thwarted by Benavidez. Asked post fight about his future plans, Benavidez set his sights squarely on undisputed 168-pound champion Canelo Alvarez. “I just want to tell everyone that I have a lot of respect for Canelo Alvarez but he has to give me that shot now,” said Benavidez. “That’s what everyone wants to see. Let’s make it happen. Now the fans are calling for this fight, the legends are calling for this fight, so let’s make it happen.” #DavidBenavidez #CalebPlant #BenavidezPlant Visit PremierBoxingChampions.com for more info.
