rangers played against brentford at auchenhowie in a closed door friendly. RANGERS hosted Brentford in a bounce match this afternoon as the sides drew 2-2 at Auchenhowie. Amad Diallo netted two first-half goals, with Zanka and Tristan Crama on target for the visitors. The match provided a number of first-team players with valuable minutes against strong opposition from the English Premiership side. The Light Blues lined-up with Robby McCrorie in goal and a back four of Mateusz Zukowski, Jack Simpson, Leon Balogun and Leon King. Steven Davis captained the side and was joined in midfield by Glen Kamara and James Sands while Kemar Roofe was supported up front by Scott Wright and Amad Diallo. The visitors travelled to Glasgow with an experienced squad made up of a mix of first-team and B team players, which included Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen. Eriksen tested Robby McCrorie with the first shot of the match inside the opening 10 minutes as the ball broke to him on the edge of the box but his effort was held comfortably by the Rangers keeper before Steven Davis picked out Kemar Roofe at the other end but his shot was blocked by the Brentford defence. Just after the 15 minute mark it was the visitors who took the lead at Rangers Training Centre. Eriksen swung a corner into the box and centre-back Zanka glanced a header across goal and beyond McCrorie. Steven Davis linked-up well with Amad Diallo shortly after as Rangers looked for an equaliser. The Northern Irishman found the run of Diallo with a lovely cross-field ball and the winger cut inside and returned the ball to Davis on the edge of the box but he couldn't keep his effort down as it drifted over the bar. Diallo did get the equaliser shortly after as a ball down the right from Mateusz Zukowski found the winger in the box and he slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net. There were good chances for both sides in the first-half and Robby McCrorie denied the London side a second. Eriksen played a ball through to Saman Ghoddos who had made a darting run into the box but the Gers’ keeper was alert to come out and block the shot. The rebound fell back to Ghoddos on the edge of the box and he tried to play a ball back across goal but McCrorie got another touch before the danger was cleared. Rangers were awarded a penalty on the 34th minute as Scott Wright drove down the left before cutting into the box, the winger showed strength to drive towards goal under pressure from a Brentford defender before being brought down by goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez. Kemar Roofe stepped up to the spot but his right-footed penalty was saved by Fernandez, however Amad Diallo reacted quickly to pounce on the rebound and fire into the back of the net. Before half-time, Scott Wright again found joy down the left before delivering a dangerous ball into the box which Kemar Roofe turned goalward, but the good build-up play from Gers was met with an equally good save as Fernandez got a touch on the shot to push it wide. From the resulting corner, Amad Diallo’s delivery met Kemar Roofe at the back post but the linesman had his flag up for offside as the ball landed in the back of the net. Eriksen saw a shot pushed wide by Robby McCrorie before the break as Gers went in with a 2-1 lead at half-time. Into the second-half, Alex Lowry and Johnly Yfeko were introduced for Amad Diallo and Leon Balogun. Another dangerous set-piece from Christian Eriksen saw Brentford equalise as he swung a free-kick into the box which Tristan Crama headed into the back of the net. Rangers made a triple change on the hour mark as B team players Charlie McCann, Juan Alegria and Kane Ritchie-Hosler were all introduced with Kemar Roofe, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara coming off. Alex Lowry almost had a third for Rangers with a fantastic shot from distance which was heading for the top corner but Fernandez got a touch to tip it behind for a corner. Juan Alergria was denied from close range by Fernandez shortly after as the keeper did well to block a shot from the striker after a ball into the box from Scott Wright. In the final stages of the match, Rangers had a corner which was swung into the box by Alex Lowry and met Juan Alegria at the back post but his shot drifted just over the bar as the match finished level. Minutes later, Alisson thought he was the match's third red card for a high boot, but after a VAR review the referee changed his decision to a booking. Alisson continued to struggle in the second half when he fumbled the ball, allowing the hosts to smash it into the net. However, he was saved by the referee's whistle as the linesman had already flagged to say the ball had gone out of play. VAR was then called into action a third time when referee Wilmar Roldan awarded Ecuador a penalty, but after review the decision given against Raphinha was overturned.

Tiverton Town vs Sholing | Match Highlights & Interviews | FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
Boatmen pulled off a Cup Upset with a come from behind win at Southern Premier side, Tiverton Town. Despite conceding an early goal, in an end to end first half, Joe Adams got the equaliser and then Claudio Herbert put us in front. Sholing continued to hit the home side with rapid attacks in the second half and our place in the 2nd Qualifying round draw was secured by Dan Mason on 77 mins. Dave Diaper was back in charge and kept the same starting line-up from the win against Lymington in midweek. Stu Green & Brad Targett missed out through injury and although Conor Whiteley was on the bench, he wasn't going to be risked. The game started at a rapid pace and inside 60 seconds, Tiverton win a corner which Sholing clear comfortably. With Sholing now on the front foot, Tiverton goalkeeper, Lewis Williams, had to be at his best to prevent the Boatmen from opening the scoring on 2 minutes. From Ryan Cluett’s corner he found the head of Byron Mason who just puts it over the bar. A minute later Tiverton were given too much space and full back Alfie Pond was able to swing a ball in from the right and centre forward Matt Wright rose unchallenged and headed the ball past Ryan Gosney. With 10 minutes on the clock Tiverton looked to have doubled their lead when Centre Half Gary Warren’s powerful header was saved by Ryan Gosney. On 11 minutes a challenge by Claudio Herbert sees Louis Morison needing treatment and referee Mr Senior produces his 1st card of the game for the Sholing midfielder. Once again Gary Warren’s header is scrambled away from the Sholing goal line. However, one minute later the Boatmen are back on level terms Claudio Herbert fired up after his caution makes a clinical run and he picks out JOE ADAMS who slotted the ball home for first senior goal. The match became pretty much end to end with Sholing counter attacking Tiverton’s forward press mainly down the left. Ryan Gosney’s poor clearance allowed Matt Wright the opportunity to give Tiverton the lead but his shot was way off target. Then likewise at the other end goalkeeper Lewis Williams decided to play football outside the box rather than clear it and Dan Mason outmuscled him but fired over an empty net from 20 yards. On the half hour mark Ryan Gosney once again had to be at his best to keep out Olaf Koszela’s long range effort. Then like Déjà vu it was Lewis Williams who had to be at his best to deny Jake Cope’s effort. Finally smart work down the left from Ryan Cluett finds Joe Adams on the edge of the box and he coolly slides the ball to his right into the path of CLAUDIO HERBERT who drills the ball past Williams and celebrates with his traditional celebration. Sholing nearly switched off and what looked like a clumsy challenge on Olaf Koszela referee Senior was unmoved by it and the Tiverton appeals and waved away their claims for a penalty. HT 1-2 On 47 minutes Charlie Wagstaffe finds himself the 2nd Boatman in Referee Senior’s book for a trip on Jordan Lam. Tiverton continue to press, and the resulting corner is cleared but falls to Louis Morison who curls his shot over the Sholing bar. Jake Cope once again has a darting run at the Tiverton defence, but he decides for the single option and has his shot blocked with Sholing players in better positions. Olaf Koszela is adjudged to be fouled on the left edge of the Sholing box Ryan Gosney ensured the wall covered his near post and Koszela curls his kick just wide of that upright. Once again, a counterattack sees Jake Cope’s effort deflected but Lewis Williams reacts to the deflection to prevent Sholing a third goal. Yet again it is Jake Cope trying to break down the Tiverton defence and puts his effort narrowly wide. 60 seconds later the tie is sealed and Sholing score their third with DAN MASON scoring his seventh goal in seven games, drilling his shot under the keeper. Tiverton Manager Scott Roger’s frustration was boiling over and referee Senior intervened with a lengthy lecture. Sholing continued to press for a fourth rather than sit back and defend, but where denied by a linesman’s flag. With the clock showing 2 minutes of the ninety to play, another chance for Dan Mason to double his score for the day. But he is denied by Lewis Williams block, but as the ball is cleared the Sholing striker is left injured and because of cut foot can no longer continue. Nathan Gray replaces Dan Mason for the final 2 minutes and 4 minutes stoppage time. With Tiverton looking for some pride they continue to seek a second goal, but Ryan Gosney denies Austen Boothe’s header with a superb save. FT 1-3 Report by Greg Dickson
