Nachdem Alfa Romeo die Verträge mit Kimi Räikkönen und Antonio Giovinazzi um ein weiteres Jahr für die F1-Saison 2021 verlängert hat, bleibt für Mick nur noch eine Chance bei Haas. Dort steht Nikita Mazepin auf der Pole Position auf eines der Cockpits im Team von Günther Steiner, der erst kürzlich die Trennung von den beiden aktuellen Piloten Romain Grosjean und Kevin Magnussen bekanntgegeben hat. Ferrari-Teamchef Mattia Binotto bestätigte im Rahmen des Großen Preises der Emilia Romagna in Imola, dass es nur einer der Ferrari-Junioren, zu denen der Sohn von Michael Schumacher zählt, im kommenden Jahr in die Formel 1 schaffen wird. Für die anderen werde man anderweitige Möglichkeiten suchen. Haas-Teamchef Steiner wollte sich noch nicht zu seiner Fahrerbesetzung für 2021 äußern.
