One of the longest sponsors was Sahara, which stayed on the jersey for more than ten years. But after that, the company got into major legal and financial trouble. Its founder was even arrested, and the group collapsed. Then came Oppo, a Chinese phone company. They signed a huge deal but left early because of money pressure and rising India-China tensions. After them, Byju’s, the big ed-tech firm, took over. At first, it looked like a success, but soon Byju’s faced massive losses, unpaid bills, and regulatory problems. Most recently, Dream11, the fantasy sports company, became the jersey sponsor. But in 2025, a new Indian law banned real-money gaming.
