On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the news of Panthers Director of Hockey Operations and Salary Cap Management Braden Birch leaving the Cats organization to become an Assistant General Manager for the New Jersey Devils under Sunny Mehta, where he was also assigned as the GM of the AHL's Utica Comets. Sportsnets Elliote Friedman discussed last week that he wonders if there's a chance that former captain of the Panthers and Director of Player Personnel Bryan McCabe could be next to joining Sunny Mehta in the Devils front office as the pipeline from Florida to New Jersey has grown. We go back to our draft talk, and discuss who are the possible teams who could trade out of their picks, and who are the teams who could jump ahead of the Panthers? We also go back to our player grades and grade forward's Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart on their 2025-26 season. Here we go again! Everyone at this point last year made it this far. The cream has risen to the top, the contenders have eased passed the pretenders. And what do we have left in the Central? Komets versus Walleye...again... The Komets got to this point by making quick work of the Indy "Fishers" Fuel in round 1. Winning the series in 5 games with 2 shutouts to boot, one by each goaltender. The K's will be riding with Samuel Jonsson as their goalie of choice for the foreseeable future. He has been standing on his head this series with only 2 goals allowed in 2 games and a .961 save %. In the playoffs you need your goals to come from everyone, The Komets have been doing that. The snakebitten Leo, Indiana native Matthew Miller finally got his first home goal as a Komet in game 5 of the first round. Brady Stonehouse who had his fair share of tough luck has 3 goals and is a plus 3 thus far. Stoney is the type of sandpaper player that is built for the playoffs, and if he can keep up that scoring clip, then everyone should take note. Not to mention that the top guys are scoring as well, Austin Magera leads the playoffs with 7 assists to go with 3 goals. 2 Points per game is an insane clip regardless who the opponent is. Every Komet on the active playoff roster has recorded at least 1 game, a true sign of the team's depth. Maybe this year will be different, the Komets have the talent to make that elusive deep run that hasn't happened since they won it all back in 2021. They have not lost at home so far in the playoffs going a perfect 3-0 at home up to this point. The Toledo Walleye have had a slightly different road up to this point. They won their series in 6 games to the Bloomington Bison. To the surprise of very few, Brandon Hawkins leads the team in points with 8. One thing they have been doing well was tearing up Bloomington's defense. Scoring 24 goals in 6 games well distributed up and down the line-up. Take it with a grain of salt, because Bloomington was playing catch up mode most of the series, Carter Gylander has a sub .900 save percentage, although not by much. What is alarming is what was the 6th best PK in the league comes in the playoffs with a college failing grade at 64.3% (however, that would have passed my weighted Differential Equations class I had the displeasure to take in college.) The Komets special teams have been firing up at the right time, Toledo will need to find that regular season groove to keep up and to prove that they are not cooling off at the worst time possible. This series will be chaos, as it always is. With Toledo getting the best of Fort Wayne the last couple of times last year and back in 2019. That series last year was painful for Komets fans. A golden opportunity was squandered as the underdog team. Now The K's are the top seed with home ice advantage, now is the time to dethrone the Fish once and for all. For Toledo Walleye, the ever elusive Kelly Cup has been teasingly close. They would love to win this series to continue narratives against a division foe and to bring home Toledo's first hockey championship in 32 years.

The NBA Playoffs are heating up, the NFL offseason still has one massive quarterback question, and the NBA Draft Lottery could reshape the league. Nick Ashooh breaks down why the Oklahoma City Thunder look almost unbeatable after taking a 2-0 series lead over the Los Angeles Lakers. OKC beat Los Angeles 125-107 in Game 2, forced 21 Lakers turnovers, turned them into 26 points, and got 48 bench points while Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander each scored 22. Game 3 now shifts to Los Angeles with LeBron James, Austin Reaves, and the Lakers already facing real pressure. Then, the Eastern Conference picture is suddenly wide open after Boston’s stunning first-round exit. With the Celtics gone and the Knicks, Sixers, Pistons, Cavaliers and others trying to seize control, is there actually a clear favorite left in the East? Plus, Aaron Rodgers is reportedly expected to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers, with no deal finalized yet. Is Pittsburgh making the right move by waiting on Rodgers, or are the Steelers delaying the rebuild they eventually have to face? Nick also gets into why NFL Draft grades mean nothing compared to player development, why rookie minicamps always create false hope, and why landing in the right organization matters just as much as draft position. Finally, the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery is Sunday at 3 PM ET, with all 14 lottery teams hoping to land the No. 1 pick. The lottery could have major ripple effects for teams like the Wizards, Nets, Pacers, Clippers, Hawks, Warriors and Thunder. Topics include: Thunder vs Lakers Game 3 LeBron James and the Lakers’ future Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and OKC’s depth The wide-open Eastern Conference Celtics fallout after the Sixers series Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers Why NFL Draft grades are meaningless Rookie development in the NFL 2026 NBA Draft Lottery storylines Wizards, Nets, Pacers, Clippers, Hawks and Thunder lottery stakes Draymond Green and Charles Barkley Follow Nick: Instagram: @nickashooh X: @nickashooh TikTok: @nickashooh Subscribe for more NFL, NBA, sports media, and betting-driven sports conversation. 🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up? Twenty months. Dozens of roster decisions. How many actually made the Edmonton Oilers better? Nick Zararis goes through every major move Stan Bowman has made as Edmonton Oilers General Manager: free agent signings, trades, and contract extensions, grades each one, and explains what it means for the team's future with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on the clock. What's covered: Free agency grades: Josh Samanski and David Tomasek (smart low-risk gambles), Andrew Mangiapane (a clean miss), John Klingberg (fine), Curtis Lazar (fine), Jack Roslovic (acceptable at the price) Extension grades: Leon Draisaitl at 8 years/$14M (had to be done), Trent Frederick at 8 years/$3.85M (inexcusable), Evan Bouchard at 4 years/$10.5M (fine), Jake Walman at 7 years/$7M (does not look good), Vasily Podkolzin at 3 years/$2.95M (lights out), Mattias Ekholm at 3 years/$4M (concerning for his age) Trade grades: The Tristan Jarry acquisition (catastrophic miss), the Jake Walman trade for a first-round pick (miss), the Vasily Podkolzin trade for a fourth-round pick (win), the Connor Ingram waiver claim (win), Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach for a first and Andrew Mangiapane (TBD but likely a miss) Why the NHL is changing: How the league is skewing younger, faster, and more skill-based, and why Bowman's approach of targeting proven veterans at depressed prices hasn't worked in Edmonton The excess value problem: Why the Oilers' best years came when they had players like Evan Bouchard, Dylan Holloway, and Philip Broberg on cheap deals and how they've lost that edge What $16 million in cap space actually buys: Why it sounds like a lot and isn't, once you factor in goaltending, top-six forwards, and Colton Dach's restricted free agency 06:47 Oil's pitch to veteran players 08:56 Critiquing Stan Bowman's decisions 14:06 Discussing player roles and signings 19:52 Debating Oilers' recent trades 23:24 Discussing GM and coach changes 24:14 Impending McDavid free agency concerns 28:39 Predicting a coaching change Every Stan Bowman Trade and Signing Graded: Edmonton Oilers GM Report Card Everydayer Club If you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official.
