Chris was laughed at for saying the Lions could beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he was right, they could have. Instead, they avoided losing out the season by landing a tie against the Steelers at Heinz Field. Its a perfect fit for the ongoing story of the Detroit Lions 2021 NFL season. Detroit Lions Podcast Takes Stock While the Lions didn't win the game, they didn't lose either, and with quarterback Jared Goff suffering an oblique injury, the Lions are likely to test out their backup quarterbacks and add a whole new level of angst to fans for the season. Its a no win scenario really, Boyle or Blough sizzle? The crucifixion of Jared Goff will be locked in. They stink, and the questions about the direction of the team will be legion. There are seven games left in the season after the game against the Cleveland Browns this week (which we will cover in depth), but we sense that the conversation around Jared Goff is only going to heat up with each passing week. BREAKING: Lions Claim WR Josh Reynolds Off Of Waivers Formally Of The Tennessee Titans & Rams
The Detroit Lions have claimed former WR Josh Reynolds of the Tennesee Titans and LA Rams off of waivers. Josh Reynold reunites with Jared Goff and Brad Holmes from his time with the Rams. The Detroit Lions have used their top priority on waivers to claim wide receiver Josh Reynolds. The 26-year-old receiver was waived by the Tennessee Titans earlier this week after requesting to be moved from the team. Reynolds found himself low on the Titans depth chart and only caught 10 passes for 90 yards this year. On Wednesday morning, Lions head coach Dan Campbell mentioned that the team had discussed Reynolds in free agency, but hadnât made a decision on whether theyâd claim him. âWe did (look at) Josh when he was a free agent coming out last year,â Campbell said. âWeâve talked about him. We know the player well. Certainly, (GM) Brad (Holmes) knows him even better than I do, but that doesnât mean that itâs not right now. It just means we havenât talked about it.â The Lions obviously need wide receiver help given that theyâve lost Tyrell Williams and Quintez Cephus to injury, and havenât gotten the expected production out of guys like Trinity Benson, KhaDarel Hodge, and Geronimo Allison. One benefit of Reynolds is that he has a history with Lions quarterback Jared Goff. In four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, Reynolds caught 113 passes for 1,450 yards and nine touchdowns. âJosh is a great player,â Goff said on Wednesday. âI saw that he was available. Itâs obviously up to Brad and Dan on that, but Iâm a fan of Joshâs and wherever he lands, Iâm sure heâll be great.â In a corresponding move, the Lions have assigned defensive lineman Jashon Cornell to the reserve/non-football illness list. Cornell was listed on the Lions injury report on Wednesday, ahead of this waiver claim being processed, but this move removes him from the active roster for at least the next three weeks. With DaâShawn Hand and Kevin Strong returning from injured reserve over the last two weeks, the Lions have the depth to overcome Cornellâs absence.
