Shohei Ohtani hit his 43rd Home Run Rangers vs Angles

ANAHEIM -- After throwing a career-high 117 pitches over seven strong innings and reaching as high as 100 mph on the radar gun in a 3-2 win over the Rangers on Friday, Angels manager Joe Maddon wouldn’t have blamed two-way star Shohei Ohtani for asking for a day off on Saturday. But Ohtani asked to be in the lineup and again proved he’s not dealing with any late-season fatigue, as he crushed a three-run homer in the sixth inning to put the Angels up 4-0. Ohtani leads the Majors with 43 blasts, three ahead of Kansas City’s Salvador Perez. No Angels player has ever led the Majors in homers in a season, and the club record is 47 homers by Troy Glaus in 2000. #Shohei_Ohtani #Angels #MVP

Why Do NBA Players Wear Compression Shirts Under Their Jersey?
Why Do NBA Players Wear Compression Shirts Under Their Jersey?

The NBA has a strict dressing code for how players must look on the court whether they are playing or not. That is why you can often find college players dressing differently from NBA players. For instance, most college players wear t-shirts under their jerseys but NBA players don’t. Although you might have noticed few players like Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers who is an exemption to that rule. NBA doesn’t allow its player to wear t-shirts under their jersey so what you see Anthony Davis wear all the time is actually a compression shirt. What is a compression shirt and why do some players wear them often? You’re about to find out in this video. And if you’re new to this channel, hit the like button and subscribe for more interesting NBA-related videos. The tradition of wearing a t-shirt under the uniform became popular among college players in the 1980s because of Patrick Ewing. The basketball Hall of Famer claimed that he started wearing t-shirts under his Georgetown university jersey because of the cold. He had one of the most successful college careers of all time and was selected by the New York Knicks with the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA draft. Ewing wanted to continue this tradition with the New York Knicks but NBA denied his request. However, things have changed and the NBA has relaxed some of its rules, which now allow players to wear compression shirts under their jerseys. This tradition started during the 2005-06 NBA season when players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James began wearing tights under their shorts. They claimed that these tights and sleeves helped to keep their legs warm and improve their performance. The league frowned at this practice at first but decided to allow players with medical needs to use them. This soon became popular and players like Allen Iverson started wearing compression sleeves on their arms. Now, most players wear these sleeves all the time as well as compression shirts under their jerseys. Compression shirts are made with materials designed to stretch for fit but provide pressure against the body. Most players wear them under their jerseys because it helps them absorb sweat, keep the body warm, prevent injury, and enhance performance. The muscles usually tighten up when there is cold and this might affect a player’s performance. Also, because of the intense level of activity involved in basketball, players sweat profusely and this can make them uncomfortable. However, with a compression shirt, a player can keep his body dry and cool at all times. Beyond the reasons mentioned already, compression gears have also gained popularity because of their medical benefits. Firstly, compressions gears increase the level of oxygen delivered to the muscles, which in turn lead to better performance. If you’ve ever played basketball, you’ll understand that it is very strenuous and it can make you tired quickly. The tiredness is because the muscles have used up most of the oxygen available. Compression gears prevent this by increasing the volume of blood supplied to the muscles, which in turn make more oxygen available. Another important benefit that they have is that they can shorten the period of muscle recovery during and after a game. Players often experience muscle fatigue during games and workouts, which may affect their level of performance. However, with the muscles in place, it can prevent injuries and muscle pulls. Over the years, we’ve seen several NBA players wear compression shirts but it seems some cannot do without it. But Anthony Davis comes first on the list of the most notorious compression shirt wearer in the league. Because of that, some curious people have flooded forums with this particular question, “Why does Anthony Davis wear that compression shirt every game?” Well, this is because he has suffered several injuries right from his rookie season. He revealed that he had a torn labrum in his left shoulder since his rookie season but he didn’t go for surgery immediately. When the pain got worse, AD started wearing a compression shirt to help him stabilize his ailing shoulder. So when next you see him playing with a shirt under his jersey, you should know that he’s not doing it for fashion. Do you know any other NBA players who wear compression shirts in every game? Drop their names in the comment below. Although there are people who believe that compression shirts do not improve players’ performance. However, it has become entrenched as part of the NBA’s standard look and players now wear it fashionably by matching it with the color of their jerseys. Even though many of them don’t wear compression with sleeves like Anthony Davis, they often wear sleeveless ones. Thank you for watching this video. IPL 2021:All teams updated squad | IPL 2021 replacement players | Tamil Cricket News |IPL News Tamil #ipl #ipl2021 #iplnewstamil #ipl2021tamil #iplschedule #iplnews #vivoipl IPL 2021: Josh Hazlewood available for UAE leg, confirms CSK CEO Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood is set to be a part of MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings squad for the second leg of the Indian Premier League’s 2021 edition, which was postponed midway due to a spate of pandemic cases emerging inside the bio-secure environment prepared by the BCCI for all franchises. Hazlewood, who had opted out of the tournament earlier this year citing bio-bubble fatigue, will now be available for his team. “It’s been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months,” Hazlewood had said to cricket.com.au before the start of IPL 2021. However, now, his availability for the second leg of the tournament has been confirmed by CSK CEO KS Viswanathan. “Hazlewood has confirmed his availability for the second phase of IPL starting from September 19. The BCCI has confirmed that players who were not available in the first phase can join the respective teams in the second phase if they are fit and available. Considering Hazlewood’s form, he will be a great addition to our team,” said Viswanathan. Hazlewood, who is one of the 15 members of Australia’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad, has been in fine form lately. Although Australia lost both of their recent five-match T20I series against West Indies and Bangladesh 1-4, the 30-year-old pacer delivered with the ball for the team, as he bagged eight wickets in four matches against Bangladesh. In his overall career, Hazlewood has picked 21 wickets in 17 matches. Physical preparation of MMA fighters - Chris Miah
Physical preparation of MMA fighters - Chris Miah

Hello and welcome to The Progress Theory where we discuss how to implement scientific principles to optimise human performance. On today’s episode, we have Pro MMA fighter and S&C coach Chris Miah. Chris has fought professionally throughout Europe in promotions including Cage Warriors, Akhmat, BAMMA and ACB, and if you want to watch his fights I have included online links below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lw5rnCCQkc In this episode, Chris shares his experiences in MMA and how he’s used these experiences to form his coaching of the next generation of fighters. There are a lot of factors to consider when preparing a fighter from the grassroots level to the professional level, and Chris really shows his experience when rationalising his approach to coaching. This includes the importance of communication, how consistency is key, and how fighters should spend more time developing their skill set. If you want to compete in MMA or want to coach MMA, this is the episode for you. In this episode, we discuss: 2:20 - An introduction to Chris Miah 6:04 - Is Chris Looking to fight again? Choosing fights to help develop coaching skills 13:13 - How Chris started MMA and how it changed him as a person 16:45 - Biggest lesson from his MMA career 22:22 - Developing skills in MMA 26:45 - The 4 key areas of MMA 28:03 - How Chris started his MMA club as a response to fighters rushing their technical development 29:50 - Training differences between the off-season and preparing for a fight. 34:45 - do S&C MMA coaches make the mistake of going too specific too soon? 38:10 - Do some pro fighters make similar mistakes as amateur athletes? 45:11 - Communication between coaches and athletes the most essential factor in the success of a fighter 49:16 - How MMA will change as the sport becomes more global and professional 51:57 - How to contact Chris Final Thoughts I loved hearing about Chris' background and how he got into the sport. It’s one of those stories you love to hear where someone has used sport to shape them as a person and has led them to great successes. After this episode I watched the youtube links Chris sent me of his fights and the guy is a machine, so check them out too. I just wanted to provide some final thoughts on some key areas of the chat with Chris which really resonated with me. Firstly, his message of mastering the basics. People in many different areas of life try to get ahead by trying to copy the professionals or accelerating their development too quickly without putting in the time to master the basics. In fact, many of the stories I read from professionals all say that mastering the basics is the key to success. Chris really emphasises how important this is in MMA as whatever happens in a fight you’ll always have your mastered skill set to fall back on. If this isn’t developed and you fatigue heavily during a fight, you can be in serious trouble. This message seems even more important when ignoring this could result in your getting knocked out. And secondly, what I think makes Chris stand out is his ability to learn what is missing throughout his fighting career and try to solve this during his coaching career. Fighters accelerating their development too quickly? He started Combat Sports Centre which has a philosophy of working on the basics. Communication between coaches is poor? Chris has enhanced his coaching in overseeing the skill and physical development of the athlete while bringing in experts in other areas. He’s the coordinator, which will help make sure all coaches are working in unison towards the same goal. He’s providing the expertise, culture and management skills that are essential for success in MMA. I'm looking forward to what Chris does next. Check out his Instagram to see if he does fight in the near future. Anyways I hope you enjoyed this episode. EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS: Cavalry FC vs HFX Wanderers (July 3, 2021)

We wrapped up our first week of the 2021 CPL season with a Saturday night tilt against HFX Wanderers. It was an intense battle with both sides getting chances...and showing a bit of fatigue after a grueling 7-day schedule amidst some challenging hot temperatures in Winnipeg. Tyson Farago got the start in net and put in a clean sheet performance. And while there were chances at the other end, the boys just couldn't find the back of the net this evening. A scoreless draw would be the end result and a much needed day off coming Sunday for the team before they get ready for A Thursday night matchup with Forge FC.
