Sebastian Vettel shocked the F1 world on Thursday when he announced he will retire at the end of 2022. The four-time world champion was coming to the end of his initial two-year deal with Aston Martin at the end of this year. The team made clear it wanted him to stay on for longer, and while Vettel had hinted he was open to that, he has decided not to continue. So why has Vettel decided to retire, what will this do to the F1 driver market, and how should we remember his career once he hangs up his helmet for the last time? #SebastianVettel #AstonMartin #F1 READ OUR VERDICT https://the-race.com/formula-1/our-verdict-on-sebastian-vettels-retirement-and-his-f1-legacy/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Charles Leclerc’s brief reference to a problem with the throttle in his Ferrari led to wild and unsubstantiated conspiracy theories about his crash out of the lead of the French Grand Prix. Leclerc threw away a potential win at Paul Ricard when he spun 360 degrees before nosing into the wall at the long Beausset right-hander. He took the blame for the mistake post-race and was highly critical of himself, but some F1 fans and pundits suggested there was more to the incident than met the eye. #F1 #FrenchGP #CharlesLeclerc READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/mark-hughes-leclerc-was-thwarted-by-root-of-ferraris-advantage/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Sergio Perez had a strong start to the 2022 Formula 1 season, giving team-mate Max Verstappen a hard time in the early stages of the year. But from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards, things have become more difficult for Perez. He has slipped back into his expected number two role and fallen back in the world championship fight. Perez says this is because, as he put it, car development is “going away from me”. This has made the car less comfortable for him to drive, while team-mate Max Verstappen has thrived. So how much have Perez’s performances slipped compared to Verstappen, why has this happened and can Red Bull be blamed for deliberately making life difficult for Perez? #F1 #SergioPerez #MaxVerstappen Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
When Fernando Alonso celebrated his second world championship at the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix, the 26-year-old had the Formula 1 world at his feet. But since then, he hasn’t achieved anything like the success that appeared to lie ahead of him. There are myriad reasons for this, but right now we’re focusing on the equipment at his disposal with Alpine the latest team to squander what even Alonso’s sternest critics would have to admit is his prodigious talent. That Alpine isn’t fighting for wins in F1 is to be expected, but as Alonso has pointed out, he has lost a lot of points this year to incidents not of his making and unreliability. #F1 #FernandoAlonso #Alpine READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/alpine-will-exceed-900-staff-in-push-to-match-big-f1-teams/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Daniel Ricciardo has reacted to increasing speculation about his Formula 1 future by insisting he is committed to McLaren until the end of his contract next year - and he will not ‘walk away’ before then. Ricciardo’s deal with McLaren runs to the end of 2023 but as he has continued to struggle, the team has privately been waiting to find out whether Ricciardo will exercise an option that HE has to leave early. Several drivers have emerged as potential replacements, including the highly rated Oscar Piastri, who for several weeks has seemed destined to join Williams. So what’s Ricciardo said - and what, if anything, does it change about his and McLaren’s current situation? #F1 #DanielRicciardo #McLaren READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/ricciardo-insists-he-wont-walk-away-from-f1-or-mclaren/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Williams introduced a massive mid-season upgrade package at the British Grand Prix that represented a dramatic departure from its original design. Not only did it transform the look of the car, but it also represented an admission of the big mistake Williams made with its original concept for F1’s return to full ground effect cars in 2022. It doesn’t require an expert technical eye to spot that the key change was the Mercedes-style narrow sidepods being abandoned. These have been replaced with a more conventional design that takes inspiration from both Ferrari and Red Bull – but fundamentally is more in the direction of Red Bull. But the sidepods were a symptom of what Williams got wrong, rather than the cause. The original approach demonstrated a misunderstanding of the optimum way to generate consistent, useable downforce with these new 2022 regulations. #F1 #F12022 #Williams Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Charles Leclerc had a chance to take 19 points out of Max Verstappen’s world championship lead at the British Grand Prix, but he came away having only made up six, after falling back to fourth after a late safety car restart. That’s put scrutiny on Ferrari’s tactics - scrutiny that team boss Mattia Binotto did not appreciate on Sunday night at Silverstone given the team still won the race with Carlos Sainz. In this video Edd Straw and Scott Mitchell discuss with Glenn Freeman if Leclerc can really trust Ferrari to get him back into title contention with Max Verstappen this year. #F1 #Ferrari #BritishGP READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/our-verdict-on-ferraris-bewildering-leclerc-strategy/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
