La segunda mitad mantuvo el mismo ritmo y fue el mismo Peña quien, tras insistir con un remate de media distancia y un rebote cedido por Bravo, puso el segundo tanto. De entonces en más, los dirigidos por Gareca supieron manejar el resultado con el control del balón sin la necesidad de refugiarse en arco propio; se recuperó el esférico en el mediocampo y en el mano a mano los locales casi siempre salieron victoriosos, tanto así que Gallese casi no pasó apuros.
