ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 71): Mumbai registers 1-1 draw against NorthEast United

Ten-man Mumbai City FC failed to snap their winless run as they were held to a 1-1 draw by NorthEast United FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Tuesday. Ahmed Jahouh helped the reigning champions take the lead from the spot in the 30th minute but a relentless NorthEast United kept piling on the pressure and finally got their reward through substitute Mohamed Irshad who struck in the 79th minute to ensure both sides shared the spoils. The result means Mumbai remained winless in their last six games, moving back to the top-four but only just with 18 points from 12 games, level on points with Chennaiyin FC who take on Bengaluru FC on Wednesday. NorthEast United remained at 10th place in the table, having 10 points from 14 games. For Mumbai, things got worse as Amey Ranawade was shown a red card in stoppage time after he picked up his second yellow card. NorthEast United were off to a positive start but Mumbai soon got their grip on the tie, Jahouh whipping in a delicious ball for Vikram Pratap Singh whose flick-on was off target. Mourtada Fall was denied by a sharp save from Subhasish Roy Chowdhury as Mumbai started calling the shots. The momentum soon reflected in a goal albeit from a spot-kick after Vikram was tripped inside the box by Mashoor Shereef. NorthEast protested vehemently against the decision by the referee pointed to the spot and Jahouh thumped the ball high and into the left corner of the goal leaving Roy Chowdhury with no chance to get a hand to it. Stung by a goal, the Highlanders upped the ante but it was Mumbai who looked the likelier of the two sides to double their lead. Just before halftime, Bradden Inman missed a sitter after being set up by Cassio Gabriel. In the second period, NorthEast United had an early chance to equalise but Gurjinder Kumar headed wide. The best chance for NorthEast United fell to Suhair Vadakkepeedika whose chip caught Mohamad Nawaz off his line but the ball cannoned off the post. Two minutes later, Marcelinho's effort thundered off the bar as NorthEast United as Mumbai breathed a sigh of relief. Hernan Santana then tried his luck from range with a delightful free-kick but the keeper did well to keep his effort at bay. NorthEast United kept knocking on the door and finally got their reward from an unlikely source. Minutes after coming on for Sehnaj Singh, defender Irshad found the back of the net with a striker's finish after the ball fell to him from a NorthEast United corner and he applied a neat finish towards the far corner. Cassio Gabriel got a golden chance to help Mumbai back into the lead after Amey Ranawade swung in a sharp cross for him inside the box but the Brazilian forced a sharp save from Roy Chowdhury. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague ๐Ÿ”Š LIKE โžก SHARE โžก SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 70): Ogbeche shows SC East Bengal no mercy as Hyderabad go top

Hyderabad FC reclaimed the top spot in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) standings with a dominating 4-0 win over SC East Bengal at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, here today. Bartholomew Ogbeche (21โ€™, 44โ€™, 74โ€™) scored a sensational hattrick to extend his lead in the goalscoring charts. Aniket Jadhav (45+1โ€™) also got on the scoresheet for the Nizams. The result takes them to the top of the table with 20 points, ahead of Kerala Blasters FC on goal difference. Joao Victor tested Arindam Bhattacharja from a free-kick early into the game following a strong start by the Nizams. The goalkeeper was called into action a few more times later after having to make saves from Sauvik Chakrabarti and Aniket Jadhav. However, the custodian could not keep the ball out for long as Bartholomew Ogbecheโ€™s header escaped his grip and landed inside the net for the first goal. SC East Bengal gave a better account of themselves after the drinks break in the first half. They almost scored the equaliser but a save from Laxmikant Kattimani and a goal-line clearance from Joao kept the lead intact. At the stroke of the 41st minute, HFC doubled the lead after a comedy of errors by SCEB defence allowed Ogbeche to weave past the goalkeeper and score with ease. Aniket Jadhav then added more misery by scoring the third after a couple of minutes. His low shot from the left flank found the bottom-right corner and the Nizams went into the halftime break with a three-goal advantage. Marcelo Ribeiro made his debut from the bench in the second half as the Red & Gold Brigade tried to find a breakthrough. However, it was HFC that scored the fourth as Ogbeche finally got his first hattrick of the season at the stroke of the 75th minute. Javier Siverioโ€™s shot deflected into the Nigerianโ€™s path who made no mistake in slotting the shot into the back of the net. SCEB had a penalty awarded after Ribeiro was tripped inside the box but the spot-kick was saved well by Kattimani who correctly guessed Franjo Prceโ€™s attempt. The Nizams kept their clean sheet intact for the remainder of the match and secured important three points. Hyderabad FC face Odisha FC in their next fixture at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Thursday while SC East Bengal awaits a stern test of ATK Mohun Bagan in the Kolkata Derby at the PJN Stadium on Saturday. #HeroISL #IndianSuperLeague #LetsFootball ๐Ÿ”Š LIKE โžก SHARE โžก SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 68): Chennai secure 3rd spot with 2-1 win over NorthEast United

Chennaiyin FC rode a second-half blitz to move third in the points table as they heaped more misery on NorthEast United FC with a 2-1 victory in the Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Saturday. Laldanmawia Ralte helped NorthEast United take the lead in the 35th minute before Ariel Borysiuk (52nd) and Vladimir Koman (58th) got Chennaiyin back in the game within a space of six minutes. The result means Chennaiyin have now jumped to third place from seventh with 18 points from 12 matches while NorthEast United remain at the foot of the table having collected just nine points from 13 games. Chennaiyin started the game on the front foot, displaying some eye-catching passing football and keeping the rival defenders on their toes. Nerijus Valskis warmed Mirshad Michu's gloves early on as the blue shirts seemed to play with more purpose. Against the run of play, Laldanmawia Ralte broke free but wasted an opportunity to spoil Chennaiyin's applecart. But Laldanmawia did not have to wait long to atone for his mistake as he found the back of the net albeit fortuitously in the 35th minute. Debjit Majumder was to blame under the Chennaiyin bar for coming off his line unnecessarily and conceding a corner. Off the flag-kick, Majumder was again caught on the wrong foot as he flapped down the ball unconvincingly into the danger area for a lurking Laldanmawia to slot home. At halftime, NorthEast United led 1-0 and also looked to turn the tide after Chennaiyin dominated the first half-an-hour. But in the second half, Chennaiyin took the game by the scruff of the neck, Rahim Ali putting the ball in the path of Borysiuk whose tame effort deflected off Sehnaj Singh's right boot to go inside. Things took a turn for the worse for the Highlanders as keeper Michu looked in a lot of discomfort but coach Khalid Jamil decided to keep him on until his poor outing cost them the second goal. Koman's free-kick missed everyone as Michu ventured out of his line to see the ball go past him and into the back of the net. Subhasish Roy Choudhary replaced Michu. Stung by the twin setback, Jamil sent star forward Marcelinho, who joined NorthEast United in the January transfer window, in for Laldanmawia in the 64th minute and the Brazilian made an immediate impact with his jinking runs and cutting edge in the final third. Marcelinho tried his luck from range to just send his effort wide before his delicious corner found Patrick Flottmann whose header came off the post with his rebound flying over the bar. Hernan Santana blew a golden opportunity closer to full time when he sent a free header off target from a Marcelinho corner before Majumder redeemed himself with a double save from Marco Sahanek and Imran Khan on the rebound. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague ๐Ÿ”Š LIKE โžก SHARE โžก SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 60): FC Goa holds fort against NorthEast United in a 1-1 draw

Goa, January 14: Hernan Santana's delightful free-kick failed to hand NorthEast United FC a win as they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Goa in the Hero Indian Super League at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Friday. Santana curled in a superb free-kick in just the second minute of the game but Airan Cabrera's goal in the 39th minute helped Goa draw level. There were no goals in the second half, meaning Goa moved up a rung to eighth place having 13 points from 11 games while NorthEast United remained 10th with nine points from 11 games. NorthEast United were off to a flying start courtesy of Santana's individual brilliance. The 31-year old Spaniard curled in a delectable free-kick at the near post leaving Dheeraj Moirangthem with no chance as the ball pinged in off the crossbar. It was a frantic start to the game and just the early push NorthEast United needed. Goa tried to settle down by playing more passes in midfield but NorthEast were not ready to rest on the slender lead as Deshorn Brown missed the target after beating two defenders. Goa relied on the excellent Jorge Ortiz to deliver the goods and the Spaniard got past Provat Lakra to send a teasing ball inside the box but Mirshad Michu was alert to avert the danger at the right time. NorthEast looked in fine touch when Brown and Suhair Vadakkepeedika combined for the latter to see his effort deflect off a few Goa shirts for a corner. Goa slowly started growing into the game and got the equaliser moments before the halftime whistle when Cabrera nodded in a Alberto Noguera corner with no one marking him. In the second period, Goa looked the more threatening side with Ortiz and Cabrera combining brilliantly to keep NorthEast United defence on tenterhooks. There were chances few and far between for the Highlanders but Goa could not make the most of their attacking display as they had to share the spoils in the end with their rivals. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague ๐Ÿ”Š LIKE โžก SHARE โžก SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 59): Hyderabad spoil Chennaiyin's top-four hopes with a 1-1 draw
ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 59): Hyderabad spoil Chennaiyin's top-four hopes with a 1-1 draw

Goa, January 13: Chennaiyin FC's aspirations of breaking into the top-four went up in smoke as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Hyderabad FC in a tense Hero Indian Super League game that ended in a 1-1 stalemate at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Thursday. Chennaiyin went ahead through Mohd Sajid Dhot in the 13th minute but could not hold on to their slender lead till halftime as Javier Siverio (45th) continued his scoring spree with a goal on the cusp of halftime. There were no goals in the second period as Debjit Majumder made a string of saves in Chennaiyin goal and the home side put pressure in six minutes of added time for the winner but in the end, it ended all square. Hyderabad missed talisman Bartholomew Ogbeche, lacking teeth upfront as the league's top-scorer served his suspension after picking up four yellow cards. The result means Hyderabad moved third in the table with 17 points from 11 games while Chennaiyin remained sixth having 15 points from 11 matches. Chennaiyin nosed ahead early through an unlikely source when young defender Mohd Sajid Dhot headed in Anirudh Thapa's inch-perfect free-kick leaving Laxmikant Kattimani with no chance. Stung by the early goal, Hyderabad got their act together and started bossing possession, also creating chances in the final third. The industry paid off just before halftime as Siverio atoned for his miss just a minute before with a calm and composed finish after Asish Rai sent in a delightful cross inside the box for Siviero to leap highest and head the ball in past Debjit Majumder. Just after the restart, Debjit was forced into making two crucial saves to deny Siverio and Edu Garcia. Both teams made a flurry of chances to get that goal but clear-cut chances were few and far between before Ninthoinganba Meetel's thunderbolt of a shot ricocheted off the bar and his rebound was a meek one. Chennaiyin upped the ante in the latter stages of the second half with the introduction of Rahim Ali injecting pace. But in the end, Hyderabad held firm to eke out a point. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague ๐Ÿ”Š LIKE โžก SHARE โžก SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa...
