Ein Tag nach dem Tod von Vereinslegende Horst Eckel siegt der FCK durch den Doppelpack von Daniel Hanslik mit 4:0 gegen Viktoria Köln. Der 1. FC Kaiserslautern hat beim Sieg gegen Viktoria Köln wieder zur alten Effizienz zurückgefunden. Einen Tag nach dem Tod von Vereinslegende und WM-Held von 1954 Horst Eckel, reichten dem FCK zwei Standardsituationen, eine schöne Kombination und ein Konter zu einem souveränen 4:0-Sieg. Gleich die erste Chance führte zum ersten Tor: Daniel Hanslik nutzte den Abpraller nach einem Schuss von Marlon Ritter und schoss aus etwa elf Metern zur frühen FCK-Führung ein (5.). Chance Nummer zwei führte auch gleich zu Tor Nummer zwei: Ein Eckball auf den kurzen Pfosten wird auf Philipp Hercher verlängert, der Viktoria-Torwart Moritz Nicolas keine Chance ließ 20.). Danach wurde es wild: Viele Fouls, viele Nickeligkeiten und - daraus resultierend - viele gelbe Karten. Schiedsrichter Lukas Benen hatte große Mühe, Spieler und Trainer im Zaum zu halten und machte dabei auch selbst nicht immer eine glückliche Figur. Doch trotz der fünf gelben Karten, die Benen allein in der ersten Halbzeit verteilt hat, ging der FCK mit elf Mann und einer 2:0-Führung in die Pause. Nach der Pause zeigte sich der FCK weiter gnadenlos und nutzte auch die dritte Chance. Hanslik steckte den Ball zu Kenny Prince Redondo durch, der die Kugel gekonnt zurückspitzelte. Hanslik schob souverän zum 3:0 ein (48.). Anschließend verflachte die Partie etwas. Kaiserslautern ließ Viktoria Köln anrennen und lauerte seinerseits auf Konter. Einen davon nutzte der eingewechselte Jean Zimmer nach einem feinen Redondo-Pass zur Entscheidung (87.). Der 1. FC Kaiserslautern springt durch den Sieg mit nun 29 Punkten auf Platz sechs und hat nur noch einen Punkt Rückstand auf Waldhof Mannheim auf dem Relegationsplatz.
