Edmonton Oilers Trade for Chris Wideman Ottawa Senators Receive Conditional 6th in 2020

Another Peter Chiarelli trade has happened, and it sees the Edmonton Oilers trade for Chris Wideman. In the trade, the Ottawa Senators receive a conditional 6th round pick in 2020. I really like this trade for the OIlers, as Wideman now creates a surplus of bottom pair defenseman for Edmonton. What are your thoughts on the Chris Wideman Trade? Let me know in the comments down below, as always thanks for watching Dolynny TV! #Wideman #OilersTrade #ChrisWideman #Sens #OttawaSenators #Senators #Oilers #EdmontonOilers

Kilmarnock 1 3 Rangers Alfredo Morelos scores hat trick in Scottish League Cup
Kilmarnock 1 3 Rangers Alfredo Morelos scores hat trick in Scottish League Cup

Kilmarnock 1-3 Rangers: Alfredo Morelos scores hat-trick in Scottish League Cup. Alfredo Morelos scored a hat-trick to send Rangers into the last eight of the Scottish League Cup with a 3-1 win at Kilmarnock. The striker was the subject of a £3.75million bid from Bordeaux earlier this week but manager Steven Gerrard warned it could take three times that figure to prise him away from Ibrox. And the asking price is likely to rise even further after the Colombian stunned Steve Clarke’s men at Rugby Park with his first treble for the club It could have been four had the officials not missed the 22-year-old’s early strike which TV replays showed had crossed the line. Borna Barisic briefly gave Killie hope with an own goal just after half-time but apart from that and a worrying knee injury sustained by Jamie Murphy it was a stress-free afternoon for Gerrard’s team. Both sides made changes in goal as Gers stopper Allan McGregor was given a rest following his Europa League heroics against Maribor, with Wes Foderingham returning for his first start of the campaign, while Clarke handed a debut to Daniel Bachmann. It took the visitors just seven minutes to beat the Watford loanee as Morelos got a toe to Ryan Kent’s cross from the right. The striker should have left no room for doubt by bursting the net but he certainly did enough to get it over the line before Stephen O’Donnell could hook away. But the goal was missed by referee Nick Walsh and his assistant Daniel McFarlane who waved play on. There was a further blow when the visitors lost Murphy early after he appeared to twist his left knee on Killie’s plastic pitch and was stretchered off with head in hands as Daniel Candeias took his place. Morelos was again frustrated as Bachmann blocked well with his legs, while former Ibrox wideman Chris Burke sparked a fine save from Foderingham with a free-kick from out wide. But there was no denying Morelos on 28 minutes as he grabbed the opener. Scott Arfield, Andy Halliday and Candeias led a counter-attack as James Tavernier was found out wide and his cross was bulleted home at close-range. Killie were almost level five minutes later as Kirk Broadfoot smacked a header off the bar but it was Gers who doubled their lead on 43 minutes. Tavernier’s long ball down the right-hand channel should have been dealt with by Scott Boyd but he allowed himself to be rolled by Morelos, who made the defender pay as he angled a low finish past Bachmann. The home support were cheering on 51 minutes though as Barisic diverted Jordan Jones’ cross into his own net. But it was game over with 16 minutes left as Ovie Ejaria, Arfield and Tavernier worked together to lay on Morelos one last time as he tucked home his hat-trick from close-range.

2016 LaSalle Viper Paolo Battisti Match Penalty
2016 LaSalle Viper Paolo Battisti Match Penalty

LaSalle Viper goaltender Paolo Battisti was slapped with a 10-game suspension for this Physical Abuse of an Official Match Penalty on a game played at the Chatham Memorial Arena on February 14, 2016 against the Chatham Maroons in Western Conference action of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The Vipers lost the game 7-1. Battisti was ejected after allowing the fourth goal of the game at 6:26 of the third period. The Vipers were two-men short at the time with a third penalty pending. There was great speculation by many fans and followers of the GOJHL on social media, fan forums, newspaper articles and blogs that Battisti was just shooting the puck towards the boards out of frustration and not directly trying to hit the referee. His head appeared to be down before he shot the puck. He appeared to not look for the official and then shoot the puck. Could he see him in his peripheral vision? Should an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty been called instead? Many felt that the recent unfortunate situation in the NHL with Dennis Wideman's suspension over physical abuse of an official may have influenced the OHA to set a precedent with the Battisti case. An OHA Physical Abuse of an Official Match Penalty carries a minimum of a 7-game suspension. Battisti will miss the final 6 games of the 2015-16 regular season and the Viper's first 4 playoff games. He certainly should have not shot the puck. That is often deliberately overlooked by officials just as they turn a blind eye to a player slamming the door when entering the penalty box. When felt necessary the officials usually dole out a 10-minute misconduct. Should have that been issued instead. Was it deliberate? Was it an accident? Was it unintentional? If the puck did hit the referee what other recourse does he have but to levy the match penalty? Lessons do need to be taught or refs could find pucks whizzing past them on a more regular basis, possibly resulting in serious injury.
