Breaking News - Could Vinicius be the man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid?
He was signed for the future but 18-year-old Brazilian Vinicius has surprised coaches at Real Madrid's Valdebebas training ground in the last two weeks so much that they are wondering if he might be a player very much for the here and now.Flamengo knew they had something special when Vinicius played for them in the Under-20 Copinha tournament in Brazil aged just 16. He guided them to quarter-finals with four goals and five assists. He was fast-tracked to the first team after that.He signed for Madrid for £38million last year and has already shown a large part of his impressive repertoire in the July heat in the Spanish capital. Perhaps the clever flicks in the 'piggy-in-the-middle' passing drills were expected. But there is a directness to his play that Madrid coaches believe will soon be frightening the life out of La Liga defenders.His acceleration from a standing start is particularly impressive and it means when he plays down the left he can get a shot away once he has got half a yard clear of his marker. He also has the revs to get in front of opponents and so cross with the outside of his favoured right foot.For an 18-year-old the physique looks developed enough to have no problems with the demands top flight Spanish football. He has had to learn how to ride the tackles in Brazil, and Spain will be no worse. As Neymar has learned in France, La Liga is an easier ride for flair players who don't like to be touched, than most other top European leagues.Vinicius said in his press conference presentation that he has no plans to go out on loan and it seems Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui has seen enough to believe he can use the 18-year-old this season despite him being so far untried in Europe. Madrid, 9 dic (EFE).- Gareth Bale fue la gran novedad en el último entrenamiento del Real Madrid en Valdebebas, al completar una parte de la sesión junto al resto de sus compañeros, pero Zinedine Zidane confirmó que no reaparecerá ante el Sevilla y esperará al Mundial de Clubes para su regreso. La mañana del Real Madrid se inició con la presencia de Bale y Jesús Vallejo en el grupo a las órdenes de Zidane para realizar la última sesión en la víspera del duelo liguero ante el Sevilla. Dani Carvajal, sancionado para el partido, y Raphael Varane, con molestias musculares, fueron los únicos que se ausentaron y trabajaron en solitario. A la conclusión, Zidane confirmó que Bale no reaparecerá ante el Sevilla. "Ha hecho solo una parte con nosotros, la que habéis visto. No va a estar mañana. La idea es que viaje al Mundialito y a ver si puede estar con nosotros en el primer partido", manifestó. After playing 30 minutes for Wales on Tuesday, Gareth Bale finally joined up with his new Real Madrid team-mates on Wednesday. Video released by the club showed a smiling Bale being greeted by team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo as he arrived at the Valdebebas training ground. He was then greeted by manager Carlo Ancelotti and his assistant Zinedine Zidane at a pre-training session in a meeting room. Bale then joined the rest of players for a two-hour session, where he met up with his former Spurs team-mate Luka Modric. Only Ancelotti, and perhaps his coaching staff, know whether Bale will make his debut during Saturday's La Liga match against Villarreal. But Wales boss Chris Coleman said on Wednesday that Bale is not fit enough to play a full 90 minutes. Real have won their opening three La Liga matches under Ancelotti, who replaced Jose Mourinho at the end of last season. Report by Mark Morris.
