Hi Everyone Welcome to @Topnews1FootballChannel Watch as Man City star Phil Foden denied penalty After fouled despite VAR Review! Manchester City were denied a clear penalty against Southampton, despite Phil Foden being fouled in the box and VAR reviewing the decision The Premier League game was at 1-1 when Southampton keeper Alex McCarthy horribly mis-controlled a back-pass and Foden nipped in to steal the ball. In trying to recover the ball before Foden scored, McCarthy lunged and clearly thundered into Foden's foot, forcing the City midfielder to lose his balance. However, Foden tried to stay on his feet and keep control of the ball - but the opportunity to score was gone there was a delay while VAR reviewed the decision. But - to Foden's visible confusion - no penalty was awarded. McCarthy was very lucky to get away without being punished, although goals from Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan just before half-time did give Man City a 3-1 lead going into the break. #PhilFoden #ManchesterCity #Southampton #ManCityNews #PhilFodenPenalty #TopNews1 THANKS FOR WATCHING! Manchester United Denied Penalty By VAR For Callum Hudson-Odoi Handball Manchester United were denied a first-half clear penalty against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. 15 minutes into the game, Chelsea players were appealing for handball against Mason Greenwood inside their own box, after Edouard Mendy saved a Marcus Rashford free-kick. #ManchesterUnited #Chelsea #penaltyVAR #ManUtd #CallumHudsonOdoi #FootballNews #TopNews1 However, VAR then checked to see whether Callum Hudson-Odoi had handled first. Footage looked pretty conclusive but upon checking the screen, as both sets of players berated him, referee Stuart Attwell decided against giving the spot-kick. The handball rule appears to be changing every week this season, and fans were confused as to how Hudson-Odoi's hand was deemed to have not been a penalty in an unnatural position considering some of the other incidents this term. Unsurprisingly, managers Thomas Tuchel and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had different opinions on the call - leading to a bit of a touchline row between the pair during Chelsea vs Man Utd match THANKS FOR WATCHING!
