A boring day at the office or a routine walk around the park. Hold on! A scrumptious battle awaits us. Hardik Pandya is back facing his former franchise which actually made Hardik who he is now. Yes we are speaking of Mumbai Indians. The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will face the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will mark the 35th match of the 16th edition's Indian Premier League (IPL) & will mark the exact halfway of the league phase. Team Preview (Gujarat Titans): Well Hardik Pandya has is a different personnel when he leads a team. Whether it is leading the Indian side or it is leading an IPL franchise Hardik is a role model. His cool & calm nature around has inspired his side to come on top in many crunch situations & which is why they manage to close out games on their side which actually they had no right to win. The Titans are coming off something similar to what they do the best- heist. It was a fairly easy run chase for Lucknow Super Giants but KL Rahul & Co. made a meal of it in the end handing the Gujarat-based franchise a 7-run win. Batting first on a slowish track at Lucknow GT crawled their way to 135. It was a welcome return to form for Kung-Fu Pandya who notched a responsible fifty before Mohit Sharma held his nerve to bowl a superb final over stopping well-set KL Rahul from taking his team over the line. Overall GT have won four of their six games & have eight points in their kitty. The team management trusts their regular players & gives them a long go. However they do alter a few players according to the situation like they are using Noor instead of Little & also have sidelined Joseph in the last few matches. They have trusted Vijay Shankar & Abhinav Manohar with B Sai Sudharsan getting dropped in the previous fixture. However they might take a decision on these players based on pitch & venue. Team Preview (Mumbai Indians): Though coming off a loss against Punjab in a run-fest at Wankhede the Rohit Sharma-led unit is a team to watch for as they are in every season. It was a tough pill to swallow as they lost by 13 runs in a record run chase of 215 against PBKS. While Chawla has been a revolution bringing back the good old memories of when he was a regular starter with Team India. Hrithik Shokeen has been economical but needs to add some volume under the wickets column which is why MI have been going for plenty with the ball this season. MI's fast bowling unit has so many world-class players but has looked toothless even with the comeback of English seamer Jofra Archer. Arjun was on spot in his first two matches but has been taken to the cleaners & was hammered to 31 runs by Bhatia & Curran in an over. Whether the management keep the young Tendulkar going is a thing to watch out for with Warrier waiting in the dug-out. Mumbai Indians as always have a tremendous batting force with Kishan & Rohit giving flying starts up at the top followed by Green Suryakumar & Tilak holding the fort in the middle order before Tim David unleashes the brute power in the slog overs. Apart from Green & Tilak they haven't been consistent which is why the Mumbai-based franchise are struggling. At present Mumbai Indians have won three of their six matches & have six points to be stationed at seventh place in the points table. With the players in form it's going to be a cracking match at Ahmedabad. Head-to-Head (GT vs MI): Mumbai Indians won the solitary fixture between the two sides last season & was the only game GT lost while chasing in the IPL. This pitch has been great for teams that have been chasing and the visitors will take confidence from that fact as they look to register an important win. Gujarat have a formidable bowling attack and with the home crowd behind them they will feel confident of defending the total they have put up on the board. Will they get back-to-back wins? Or will the visitors return to winning ways? Gujarat did not get off to the best of starts losing Wriddhiman Saha on a low score but his partner Shubman Gill continued to attack the bowlers. Hardik Pandya hung around for a bit but was dismissed as he looked to accelerate the scoring. Shubman Gill reached a well-constructed half-century but perished soon after and Vijay Shankar followed him back to the shed playing a loose shot. Abhinav Manohar and David Miller got together to put on a 71-run partnership in 35 deliveries as they provided the much-needed impetus towards the end of the inning. The former departed after scoring 41 in 21 deliveries while Miller fell four runs short of his fifty but did the necessary damage with Rahul Tewatia towards the end. The two hitters for the host took them beyond the 200-run mark and they will be silently confident of their chances in this game. David Miller and Rahul Tewatia have shown why they are the best finishers in the Indian T20 League! Gujarat have finished strong as they put on 70 runs in the last four overs and have 207 runs on the board which they will be mightily pleased with. Mumbai's death bowling woes continued as they were unable to wrap up the good effort they put in for the first 16 overs. Arjun Tendulkar and Jason Behrendorff bowled with discipline with the former drawing first blood. The spinners controlled the middle overs well with Piyush Chawla taking two crucial wickets and Kumar Kartikeya dismissing the dangerous-looking Shubman Gill. Cameron Green had an off day as he conceded 39 runs in two overs while Riley Meredith and Jason Behrendorff also went for plenty in their last overs despite taking one wicket each. Captain to captain and Hardik Pandya comes out on top against Rohit Sharma. This is banged in a bit shorter at 144 clicks and angled into the batter. Sharma tries to back away and play at it but gets himself into a real tangle. Sharma ends up half-pulling it but the ball comes off the leading edge and pops straight up. Pandya doesn't have to move much and takes a simple catch. Dream start for Gujarat. Also Cameron Green walks out to bat now. Connects one and gets the maximum result. Pitched up on off stump Cameron Green backs away and thumps it over the long off fence for a biggie. A real sorter from Hardik Pandya but it costs him four runs. Bangs in a quick bumper and gets it right around the helmet. Cameron Green looks to take it on but almost gets taken out. Wriddhiman Saha fails to get a hand on it and the ball runs away into the fence. In this IPL Mohammed Shami has bowled 70 dots in the first six overs which is the most by a bowler. Gets one away and that will help Ishan Kishan boost his confidence. Short of a length around middle and leg Kishan picks it up and short-arm jabs it over mid-wicket for a boundary. Mumbai Indians are struggling in the run chase of 208. They have lost Rohit Sharma very early to Hardik Pandya and have just 29 runs in six overs. Both Shami and Pandya bowled magnificently and kept the batters on bay. Green is trying to smash them but Kishan is unable to put proper bat on the ball.
