If we talk about their form the Kiwis have lost three of their last five completed ODIs. Kane Williamson will be seen leading the team again in this format. All-rounder Henry Shipley has earned his maiden national call-up. Blair Tickner has come in as the replacement for injured Adam Milne. Matt Henry has also been ruled of the series with an injury. Pakistan: Pakistan is going to play ODI cricket after five long months. The last time they played the Netherlands and hence this was going to be a tough challenge for the home team. Notably in their last five ODI matches Pakistan has won all. Babar Azam will be leading the team and Shan Masood will be seen as his deputy. Haris Rauf who was not a part of the Test team is available for selection. However the absence of Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi will be something Pakistan will have to deal with. So the Tests are over and it is time to move on to white-ball cricket in New Zealand's tour of Pakistan. The two teams will now be facing each other in a three-match ODI series. The first of these matches will be taking place on Monday 9th January 2022 from 3:00 PM IST. The match is scheduled to take place at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi. World Cup 2023 qualification: This series is a part of the 2020-2023 World Cup Super League cycle. Ten points are up for grabs for a win in each match. However both teams have qualified for the 2023 World Cup and the result of the series does not bear much significance. Both the teams will look to get off to a good start in the series and hence we are all set for a cracker of a contest. Pakistan Team news: Shan Masood and Haris Sohail have earned ODI recalls while the Shahid Afridi-led selection panel also included uncapped batters Tayyab Tahir and Kamran Ghulam and wrist spinner Usama Mir in the 16-member squad. New Zealand Team news: Matt Henry has been ruled out of the ODI series against Pakistan and India with an abdominal strain. Jacob Duffy could be a contender to replace him should New Zealand seek a replacement. Earlier this month Adam Milne had also pulled out of the ODIs citing lack of preparation and was replaced by Blair Tickner. Meanwhile uncapped all-rounder Henry Shipley is likely to make his debut.
