A STATEMENT night in the ITALIAN DERBY | Milan - Virtus | R34 BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS 2025-26 Milan stayed in the hunt for a postseason berth and claimed Italian derby bragging rights with an emphatic home defeat of Virtus after half a dozen players scored in double figures. The hosts led throughout a lopsided contest as they dished out 25 assists against just 7 turnovers, with Zach LeDay leading the charge on 19 points and 8 boards while Quinn Ellis racked up 18 and 6 assists. Milan improved to 17-17 while Virtus dropped to 13-20 after a seventh defeat in the last eight games and effectively lost all hopes of reaching the postseason. Devin Booker poured in 14 points while Marko Guduric and Josh Nebo chipped in with 11 each. Milan also sank 14 three-pointers in a fast-flowing encounter. At the other end, Saliou Niang paced Virtus on 15 points while Matt Morgan and Mouhamet Diouf netted 14 each. The two defenses tightened up and the quarterfinal was meant to be decided by a free-throw contest in the closing stages. Jordan Bayehe had the opportunity to send it to overtime, but he split free throws and Ante Zizic picked up the defensive rebound to seal the outcome. Mathews paced the Turkish side with 23 points and Anthony Brown bagged 16, as Besiktas remained unbeaten at home this season. The hosts held DeVante’ Jones to just 4 points, but DJ Steward came to the fore with a game-high 29 points. Yet, it wasn’t enough, as Trento was eliminated from the playoffs.
