It wasn't too long ago that Rajasthan Royals were riding high at the top of the table looking like the team to beat. But with just one win in the last five matches their campaign is in danger of going off the rails. Their latest defeat at the hands of table-toppers. Gujarat Titans was a real low point and they will be desperate to bounce back quickly. Speaking of low points Sunrisers have had plenty of them this season and are in a situation where every game is a must-win contest if they are to dream of making the playoffs. So it's two teams who need a win very badly today. Samson finishes it off in style as Rajasthan Royals post a mammoth total on the board. RR have put 214/2 at the end of their allotted 20 overs and it was the top three batters who did the bulk of the job for the home side. Earlier in the evening Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal again gave the team a flying start and his partner in crime Jos Buttler was very watchful during the partnership of 54 runs. Jaiswal (35 off 18) was out in the 5th over as Marco Jansen used his height effectively. Then Sanju Samson joined hands with Buttler and scored briskly. Both added 138 runs for the second wicket and kept SRH bowlers at bay. After a string of low scores the English wicket-keeper batter announced himself back and hammered 10 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 95 from 59 balls. He was trapped infront by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the penultimate over and made sure that Jos the Boss didn't get to the three figures. Samson was unbeaten at 66 off 38 balls which included 4 fours and 5 sixes helping the side go well past the magical 200-run mark. Shimron Hetmyer was not out at the other end scoring 7 off 5 balls. Sunrisers' bowlers didn't have a great day at the office and were on the receiving end of the big partnership between Samson and Buttler. There is some turn on offer and it is not that easy for a new batter. The chase will be a trickier one for the visiting Hyderabad side. However as the surface in Hyderabad will suit KKR more they will likely emerge victorious in this match. The IPL 2023 campaign of Kolkata Knight Riders hasn't been much different from that of their opponents. They had an impressive start to the tournament registering thumping wins over RCB and GT. But unfortunately they couldn't sustain the momentum and succumbed to five crushing defeats in their subsequent six fixtures. Barring RCB KKR haven't been able to prevail over any of their opponents. Even they lost it by 23 runs when these two sides met the previous time in the tournament. Their batting has been decent; it's the bowling department that has let them down. So the Knight Riders would want their bowlers to step up and put up an impressive show tomorrow. The journey of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023 has been shambolic to say the least. Marred by inconsistency the Hyderabad batters are yet to put up an impact as a unit. Their bowling department has been even worse failing to strike at crucial junctures. However they finally broke their three-match losing streak last time defeating Delhi Capitals by a narrow nine-run margin. Riding on flamboyant half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen SRH posted a massive 197 and later defended it successfully to record their third victory of this season. Despite the win they still have plenty of problems with Harry Brook's miserable batting form being the most prominent one. He has been shuffled enough throughout the order but is yet to find a suitable entry point for himself. So moving on to this game SRH would like better returns from their core players- particularly Brook Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi. On Thursday Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will take on each other in the 47th group-stage match of the ongoing Indian Premier League season. The high-octane clash is scheduled at the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium in Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad After making loads of changes to that top order throughout the season SRH finally seemed to get things right in their last match against DC. They will likely retain the same group and probably replace Akeal Hosein with Marco Jansen. Tactics & Matchups: Suyash Sharma and Varun Chakaravarthy have been amongst the wickets for KKR this season but Aiden Markram's record against leg spin in IPL is pretty good. He averages 46.50 at a strike rate over 145 so his presence in the middle overs will be crucial for SRH. Kolkata Knight Riders KKR will have a big call to make at the top of the order after Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 81 in the last game. If Jason Roy is fit he might replace David Wiese as the fourth overseas player. Tactics & Matchups: Andre Russell usually bowls at the death for KKR these days. But there is a case for him to bowl early in the game this time given his superior record against Rahul Tripathi and Mayank Agarwal. He has bowled a combined 43 deliveries to these two and has dismissed them six times in total. What to expect: A humid evening awaits the players. In terms of the conditions we have had a couple of high-scoring games and a couple of low-scoring games so far this season. The iconic Eden Gardens Kolkata is all set to host the feast between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both teams are coming off a victory and will look to continue the winning momentum going. Head-to-Head (KKR vs SRH): In the 23 matches played between the two sides KKR are miles ahead of their counterparts winning 15 of them. Team Preview (Sunrisers Hyderabad): After being unable to find a win in the first two matches SRH bounced back strongly to submerge the high-flying Punjab Kings in what was a relatively one-sided contest if you take away Shikhar Dhawan's masterclass 99 not out. While the swing bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen set up the match very nicely by dismantling the PBKS top order the leggie Mayank Agarwal decimated the middle and lower order to push PBKS to a suicidal batting performance amidst Dhawan's fightback. It was another failure for the expensive buy Harry Brook and so with the Bengaluru-born Mayank Agarwal who is yet to perform to his potential. But Rahul Tripathi made sure that there were no further hiccups in the run chase with an unbeaten half-century alongside his skipper Aiden Markram who played a brisk innings to get their first points of the season. There are a few players like Glenn Phillips and Akeal Hosein in the waiting room if SRH management needs some changes in the line-up with Brook failing all ends up. One more notable mention is that Washington Sundar hasn't been at his best this edition so far and he can be assured of his place since he has been a consistent servant of the game in the past. Overall the Orange Army will be steaming in to keep the winning momentum going with all members of the squad looking like match winners in their own rights. Team Preview (Kolkata Knight Riders): Rinku Singh has become a household name after his unbelievable finishing against Gujarat Titans to lift his side to victory from the jaws of defeat smashing Yash Dayal for five sixes in the final five deliveries needing 28 to win. KKR will definitely be overwhelmed after this victory and will be high on confidence moving further in the competition. The Kolkata-based franchise has played three matches so far and has won the last two encounters. While they bombarded RCB in Bengaluru the Nitish Rana-led side somehow managed to cross the victory line against GT in the previous match to create an unbeaten streak of two games after losing a close game against PBKS. Andre Russell has failed to stay long enough on the pitch which is the biggest headache of the franchise. While Narayan Jagadeesan who replaced the ineffective Mandeep Singh in the XI couldn't perform to his potential Rahmanullah Gurbaz Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh have been the batting wonders. At the same time the skipper Rana hasn't been standout with the bat. KKR's pace bowlers have yet to hit the IPL going but their spinners in Suyash Sharma Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy have been impressive. Litton Das has joined the squad and will be available for selection but whether the team management is going to tinker with the winning XI is a thing to watch out for. What to expect: The one game in Kolkata so far was all about RCB's capitulation against spin. However the surface is perhaps the best-suited one for pace in the country particularly in the first half and even the spinners have been known to hurry the batsmen.
