The match will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday 29th April at 3:30 PM IST. Team Preview Kolkata Knight Riders: have played eight matches in the tournament so far. They have managed to win three of these matches and are currently at number seven in the points table. After a relatively good start in the tournament KKR lost their way as they lost four matches on the bounce. But they have returned back to winning ways with a victory against RCB in the last match. The 'Purple Army' will be looking to ride on the winning momentum that they have and win against GT on their home turf picking up two valuable points. Mentionable in the last meeting with GT Rinku Singh pulled off an improbable heist for the team hitting five sixes in the last over to take them across the line. Nitish Rana and company will be keen to repeat the antics in this match also. Team Preview Gujarat Titans: The defending champions have been consistent in their campaign this year. They have played seven matches in the tournament and managed to win five. Currently they are at number two in the points table and will be looking to maintain their position in the top half of the table with a win in this match. Hardik Pandya and his men will be mindful of the way they lost the match this time. They will try and avoid any late slip in this match and pick up two important points. In their last match against Mumbai Indians the Titans practically batted their opponents out of the match. They posted a stellar total of 207 runs on the board while batting first and then restricted the five-time champions to 152 for 9 in 20 overs. They will look to maintain this momentum and pick up another win on the bounce. Kolkata Knight Riders Shardul Thakur bowled an extended spell and also batted during practice before the game in Bengaluru but did not play the game as he was still recovering from a niggle. and is likely to replace Vaibhav Arora unless KKR opt to leave out Umesh who has been bagged only one wicket and has an economy of close to 10. Tactics & match-ups: Shardul could prove an effective option against Shubman Gill having dismissed him twice and conceding only 36 runs off 32 balls against the GT opener. Narine has dismissed Wriddhiman Saha four times and could be used early by KKR when they are bowling. Gujarat Titans: The Hardik Pandya-led team are likely to stick to the same combination that won them the last two matches. Tactics & match-ups: Andre Russell averages only 3.67 against Rashid Khan with a strike rate of 61.11 and has been dismissed three times by the Afghanistan legspinner. GT are likely to focus on this match-up and turn to Pandya who has dismissed Nitish Rana twice. Both teams have had a break of six days before this game and are currently level on four wins each. Punjab have done a great job to be in this position despite some key players missing. Kyle Mayers was going all guns blazing and added 41 runs for the first wicket in no time alongside KL Rahul. The latter was playing second fiddle to Mayers but showed intent by lofting Kagiso Rabada on his first ball for a six. But the South African pacer had the last laugh on the LSG skipper and dismissed Rahul on the next delivery. Mayers continued his onslaught and hammered his fourth fifty of the season. Ayush Badoni was promoted to number three and batted freely. Mayers and Badoni added 33 runs for the second wicket. Mayers (54 off 24) too was taken care of by Rabada in the last ball of the powerplay. LSG smoked 74 runs in the first six and lost both the openers. Badoni and Marcus Stoinis took off and smashed the bowling side to all parts of the ground stitching 89 runs for the third wicket. Following this Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran took the scoring rate up exponentially and blistered 76 runs for the fourth wicket. PBKS bowlers had no answers to this and ended up flat on the ground. While Badoni scored 43 off 24 balls Stoinis slammed 74 off 40 balls. Pooran was out in the final over but before getting trapped infront the West Indian clubbed 45 off just 17 balls as LSG posted 257/5 in the 20 overs. And the last two games are more evidence that Dhoni and Co. are back to their best; winning by 7 wickets (SRH) and 47 runs (KKR). So what has clicked? The batting. Gaikwad Conway Rahane and Dube have been among the runs. In fact the resurgence of Rahane has boosted their middle over play as he's striking at close to 200. Tushar Deshpande is another player who has excelled under Dhoni and is the highest wicket-taker in the team while Jadeja has been a bank with the ball. The team is coming together and they're starting to peak at the halfway mark. Other teams better watch out! That’s the end of the innings. A brilliant batting display from the Rajasthan Royals comes to an end as they post a mammoth 202 on the board the highest total on this ground in IPL. The foundation was laid by Yashasvi Jaiswal at the start and cameos from Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel at the back end of the innings have helped them finish with a flourish. The Chennai Super Kings have an uphill task ahead of them. Batting first the Royals got off to a sensational start thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal. The youngster from Mumbai came out all guns blazing and hit some glorious shots up front. He struck at a brisk rate and his opening partner Jos Buttler played the role of a second fiddle. The Royals scored 64 at the end of the powerplay. There was no stopping Jaiswal as he continued playing his strokes after the fielding restrictions. He brought up his fifty off just 26 balls. Ravindra Jadeja broke the 86-run opening stand when he dismissed Buttler on 27. Skipper Sanju Samson departed on a run-a-ball 17 in the 14th over. Tushar Deshpande dismissed Jaiswal on a 43-ball 77 in the same over which helped CSK to get back in the contest. The Super Kings bowled well and the Royals lost Shimron Hetmyer (8) in the 17th over who was promoted up the order. Devdutt Padikkal joined Dhruv Jurel and both played some excellent shots. Both Padikkal (27* off 13 balls) and Jurel (34 off 15 balls) hit some lusty blows at the end to power their side to 202 at the end of their 20 overs. The Super Kings picked up five wickets in total with Deshpande finishing with two. They went on a journey throughout their innings. An odd ball is turning and gripping but the surface looks good for batting. The Super Kings will have to create history tonight as they will be chasing the highest total at this venue. They have now won three games on the trot and the last two in particular were in convincing fashion. However, their most recent defeat came at home against their opponents for Thursday (April 27). Rajasthan Royals arrived in Chepauk and pulled off a job. They will now come into this contest on the back of two defeats but that win in Chennai will hold them in good stead. Jos Buttler, who hasn't fired in the last few games, delivered in that contest in Chepauk a couple of weeks ago and Royals were also aided by contributions from R Ashwin, Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer. Buttler's form has directly coincided with RR's fortunes without a doubt. The English swashbuckler hammered over 200 runs in the first four games but has managed just 40 in the last three, including two ducks. Apart from Buttler, the Royals also need a significant contribution from their skipper. Sanju Samson started off with a bang, scoring 97 runs in the first two games. But he has made only 84 in the next five. What could add to Samson's challenge is the surface in Jaipur. Batting wasn't exactly easier in the only game played here so far. That could play into their hands given how CSK have been putting up big scores. What the Royals wouldn't want on Thursday is another loss. They won four out of their opening five games but have stuttered a bit in the last two games. A third loss on the trot would put them under a bit of pressure. CSK on the other hand have seen their fortunes turn after that loss to Royals in their own den. Injuries have hampered them big time but this side still keeps winning games. Gujarat have finished strong as they put on 70 runs in the last four overs and have 207 runs on the board which they will be mightily pleased with. Mumbai's death bowling woes continued as they were unable to wrap up the good effort they put in for the first 16 overs. Arjun Tendulkar and Jason Behrendorff bowled with discipline with the former drawing first blood. The spinners controlled the middle overs well with Piyush Chawla taking two crucial wickets and Kumar Kartikeya dismissing the dangerous-looking Shubman Gill. Cameron Green had an off day as he conceded 39 runs in two overs while Riley Meredith and Jason Behrendorff also went for plenty in their last overs despite taking one wicket each. Bangs in a quick bumper and gets it right around the helmet. Cameron Green looks to take it on but almost gets taken out. Wriddhiman Saha fails to get a hand on it and the ball runs away into the fence. In this IPL Mohammed Shami has bowled 70 dots in the first six overs which is the most by a bowler. Gets one away and that will help Ishan Kishan boost his confidence. Short of a length around middle and leg Kishan picks it up and short-arm jabs it over mid-wicket for a boundary. Mumbai Indians are struggling in the run chase of 208. They have lost Rohit Sharma very early to Hardik Pandya and have just 29 runs in six overs. Both Shami and Pandya bowled magnificently and kept the batters on bay. Green is trying to smash them but Kishan is unable to put proper bat on the ball.
