Red Bull onthult: "We deden Ricciardo een astronomisch aanbod", Ontsnappingsclausule voor Verstappen
Daniel Ricciardo vertrok in 2018 bij het team van Red Bull Racing, maar als het aan Christian Horner had gelegen, had hij de Australiër aan boord gehouden als teamgenoot van Max Verstappen. Red Bull kwam met een waanzinnig voorstel voor de man uit Perth, maar Ricciardo sloeg het aanbod af. Max Verstappen tekende begin dit seizoen een nieuw contract. Daardoor zit de Nederlander tot eind 2028 bij Red Bull. Dit heeft hij echter niet gedaan zonder daar een ontsnappingsclausule in te verwerken. Het contract van Verstappen werd begin dit jaar getekend en zal dus tot eind 2028 duren. Verstappen hoeft dit contract dus niet per se helemaal uit te zitten. Als Red Bull ineens zakt in de pikorde en Verstappen wil naar een team waar hij wel mee kan doen om de prijzen, dan kan Verstappen dus onder het contract uit.
