Alles sah nach einem ungefährdeten Sieg von Charles Leclerc aus beim Großen Preis von Österreich, aber dann machte das Gaspedal Probleme. Plötzlich wurde es hektisch am Funk und Max Verstappen konnte immer mehr aufschließen. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatte der Monegasse seinen Ferrari bereits drei Mal am Weltmeister vorbeigeschoben. Eigentlich hätte Ferrari diesen Sieg also nie mehr aus der Hand geben dürfen, zuvor explodierte aber bereits der Motor von Carlos Sainz spektakulär. Das Feuer aus dem Heck des Ferrari hat den Spanier leicht in Panik versetzt, danach herrschte pure Tristesse.
