Leon Dresser to face Edmonton Oilers in playoffs
#LeonDraisaitl #talksfacing #EdmontonOilers #Playoffs "I don't want to play us in the first round or the playoffs." - Edmonton forward Leon Dresser, April 12 This photo of Draiisaitl after the Edmonton Oilers went 5-1 from the Minnesota Wild after it lost 2-1 in the shootout to the Colorado Avalanche this morning Certainly not aging well, this team will be at the start of the Western Conference playoffs. But while this part of the quote draws ears, eyeballs, and clicks, it lacks context on its own. What Draisaitl actually said was: "I think we know that if we play well and stick to what we're good at, we're a tough team to beat. - Continue reading below "Obviously we have a lot of offense, but if we continue like this, we want to defend and stick to our details. I don't want to play us in the first round or the playoffs in general. It's important that we stick to our details. , and take pride in doing the little things well." The problem with the Oilers against the Wild is that they didn't play well. They didn't stick to what they were good at. They don't care about the details and get the little things right. All of this is missing from the Excel Power Center, as is the context in the abridged citation that some people make fun of on the web today about Draisaitl. What did you say Just after Duncan Keith's brain fart, Frederick Gaudreau made a blind backhand save at the net in Minnesota's 1-0 goal, Oilers too sloppy Well, they're not going to win against a team that's so good at wild. Keith was minus-4 on the night, while partner Evan Bouchard was a mess, minus-3. The Oilers weren't terrible, they weren't good enough with the details of what Draisaitl said. There's a blunder here, there's too much open ice in the defensive zone. Mikko Koskinen was no problem, but he wasn't at his best - like Kevin Fiala's 3-0 goal. - Continue reading below They didn't give the barbarians a ton of chances, just too many really good ones. In short, compared to a competitive team like Minnesota, there is little room for error. "We think we're the creators of a lot of counter-attack opportunities. Only our breakout version, our online game. We can get better," said 19-8-3 coach Jay Woodcroft as he replaced Dave Tippet. "I would say that we try to maintain an attitude of just spending one day at a time. Today is not our best time, we don't have that
