Unión vapuleó a San Lorenzo con una actuación notable . . Aquella buena impresión que el equipo había mostrado ante Lanús, quedó ratificada ante San Lorenzo y con creces. Unión goleó al Ciclón por 4 a 0 y mostró una notoria superioridad ante un rival que nada pudo hacer frente a los dirigidos por Azconzábal que siempre tuvieron claro el libreto. Ya se había insinuado mejor el elenco rojiblanco cuando un centro al área chica de Torrico quiso ser despejado por Gattoni y lo único que logró fue establecer el 1 a 0 a favor del local. A partir de allí, Unión manejó con criterio el balón y fue dueño del trámite. Tras una gran maniobra colectiva, Fernando Márquez de derecha amplió la diferencia y cuando se terminaba el primer tiempo, Esquivel con un cabezazo no solamente marcó el tercero, sino que sentenció la suerte del encuentro. En el complemento, el Tatengue bajó la intensidad y le dejó terreno a la visita que se adelantó en el campo, pero careció de ideas como para inquietar a Moyano. Apenas un disparo de Palacios que pegó en el palo se puede contabilizar como llegada clara. Cuando se terminaba el encuentro, el cuarto llegó desde el banco de Unión: García le cedió el balón a Insaurralde que con un derechazo colocó el balón cerca del palo izquierdo de Torrico: 4 a 0 y final. Unión ganó, goleó y gustó, como hace mucho no pasaba. Y aquella mejoría vista en cancha de Lanús se reflejó en el 15 de Abril y permite que el hincha de tranquilice y también se ilusione con que algo mejor puede venir. Lainez is hurt, limping off to be replaced by Antuna. 56' - Lainez picks up a loose ball outside the Japan box and tries a shot which Yoshida deflects behind for a corner. He keeps head and knee over the shot, driving low ... but Tani parries, then snatches the loose ball before Martin can snaffle the rebound. 53' - But here come Japan, Nakayama, increasingly, influential, picks up possession down the left, just outside the box, and Bernd Schuster-style, he curves a delicate yet pacey cross for Doan .. but he heads over the top! Unión mejoró su imagen y se trajo un valioso punto de La Fortaleza . . Unión jugó un interesante partido y terminó igualando este sábado 1 a 1 de visitante frente a Lanús. El equipo de Azconzábal mostró una gran mejoría con relación a la visto frente a River y Banfield. Con apenas un poco más de efectividad, bien pudo haberse traído los tres puntos a Santa Fe. Salió a jugar de igual a igual el Tate en la Fortaleza y “bancó la parada” con presión alta, cerrando espacios sin dejar pensar al local, con transiciones rápidas, y así se instaló seguido en campo contrario, jugando lejos de Moyano. A los 18 minutos una pelota cayó como un bostezo en el área Granate. García le ganó de guapo a Aguirre y sacó una chilena magnífica que pasó rosando el palo de Acosta. Hubiese sido no solo un golazo, sino un premio al que mejor hacía las cosas. Pero como el Tate anda con el paso cambiado. De un tiro de esquina, el balón cayó a centímetros de la línea de sentencia. Nadie hizo nada por sacarla (incluido Moyano) y Sand solo la empujó a la red. A los 21 minutos, 1 a 0 con toda la injusticia de su fugaz contenido. Esto es Unión desde hace un tiempo a esta parte. Hace méritos para hacer goles pero le cuesta muchísimo concretar, y los rivales llegan y lo lastiman, al punto tal que el gol de Pepe fue el único tiro al arco del elenco de Zubeldía en la primera parte. El gran mérito es que nunca dejó de ir e insistir el Tate. Cañete a los 32 sacó un remate de afuera del área y Acosta a duras penas la mandó al corner con las uñas de los dedos. Otra jugada con sabor a conquista y que no termina en la red. Hubo una más para Lanús en el cierre cuando una bola cruzó delante del arco de Moyano y nadie la pudo tocar. Se fue el primer tiempo con sensaciones encontradas por el lado de los santafesinos. Generaron y todo lo desperdiciaron, y cuando le llegaron y lo embocaron. Y la segunda mitad fue igual. Los santafesinos proponiendo siempre y los del sur aguantando y apostando por la contra que ya casi no pudo elaborar hasta el cierre del duelo. A los 9 otra buena jugada elaborada por derecha. Llegó Vera profundo luego de una asistencia perfecta de Pittón y cuando parecía llegar el empate resolvió mal el lateral y otra vez ganó la pulseada el arquero local. Los Tatengues siempre tuvieron el control de las acciones y fueron superiores a Lanús, pero… como le cuesta llegar al gol, pero por fin llegó. A los 41 Cañete definió con un disparo de afuera del área exquisito. La pelota pegó en el palo, pego en el arquero Granate y entró. Un gol merecido para un resultado más acorde a lo ocurrido. Iguales 1 a 1. Quedaron algunos minutos para sufrir, porque el mezquino Lanús se había conformado rápido con la diferencia y luego del empate visitante fue al frente, pero ya casi que no quedó tiempo para más. Un empate que suma para Unión. Por el punto en un reducto difícil y porque evidenció una notable mejoría futbolística y anímica. Y hasta mereció algo más.
