Burnley stunned Old Trafford and ended Ole Gunnar Solkjaer's 100 per cent winning run as they held out for a dramatic draw. Manchester United were aiming to make it a seventh heaven under Solskjaer after six straight Premier League wins since the Norwegian caretaker boss took charge in December. But Sean Dyche's lowly stars rocked United and dented their Champions League hopes with second half goals from strikers Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood to take a 2-0 lead. But United roared back in the closing stages with Paul Pogba scoring a late penalty after Jesse Lingard was fouled in the box to make it 2-1. Then as the game ticked into five minutes of injury time Swedish defender Victor Lindelof denied brave Burnley a famous victory with a close range 92nd equaliser. Here are five talking points... 1. Dyche turns it around Sean Dyche must have wondered whether he'd overstayed his welcome at Burnley after a shocking first half to the season after finishing seventh last time. But the Turf Moor boss has turned results around since the New Year and his stars silenced Old Trafford with a shock draw. And what better way to bounce back from a 5-0 hammering in the FA Cup at Manchester City than to end Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's run of eight straight wins. 2. Heaton continues revival Tom Heaton was once a kid at Manchester United but his colours were firmly nailed to Burnley's mast with a stunning display. The 32-year-old star has had to contend with injury and the arrival of former England goalkeeper Joe Hart – and he's beaten them both. Heaton has been restored as Burnley's number one and he showed why at Old Trafford with a string of fine saves - particularly from Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku - to frustrate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's stars. 3. Lindelof is Mr. Reliable Victor Lindelof has fought hard to establish himself at Manchester United after a tough first season following his £30 million move from Benfica. More than a few doubted whether the Swedish World Cup defender would cut the mustard at Old Trafford. But the 24-year -old centre back has become United's most reliable defender. Calm, composed and decisive the Swede showed another side to his game to rescue United with a fine late finish to cement his place in fans hearts and earn his side a vital point after they look doo 4. Solskjaer gives youth a chance Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is right behind giving United's younger stars a look in. But his move to play 23-year-old Brazilian Andreas Pereira and leave Ander Herrera and Fred on the bench backfired. Belgian – born Pereira has always struggled for a place in United's midfield - and he didn't do his prospects any favours with the mistake that led to Ashley Barnes opening goal for Burnley. 5. Is Mata's race run? Juan Mata is an undeniable crowd favourite at Old Trafford but has his race been run at United? The popular Spaniard is out of contract in four months time and negotiations on a new deal for the 30-year-old star have so far
Paul Pogba hailed Manchester United's spirit as they produced an echo of glories past to rescue a point with a last gasp fightback. But the Old Trafford midfielder pulled no punches as he insisted it still wasn't good enough from his side, who trailed 2-0 to a Burnley side who hadn't won at Old Trafford since 1962. Goals from Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood – who struck 10 minutes from time – seemed to have given the little Lancashire club an historic victory on the ground of their aristocratic rivals. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side showed they know how to fight in adversity, just as they did under his manager of old Sir Alex Ferguson. Incredibly, United had never been behind since the Norwegian arrived just before Christmas, and they seemed to suffer few setbacks in their eight straight victories. But they had to dig deep, with Pogba pulling one back from spot three minutes from the end before United produced an incredible stoppage time barrage which eventually saw Victor Lindelof level after he rammed home from close range. And afterwards, midfield leader Pogba insisted the spirit was right...but not the attitude from the start. "We have to learn from our mistakes and next time start the game differently,” he said. "The manager said to us, you have to start strong and be aggressive because that’s what they were in the first half. We played like we were winning 1-0 or 2-0, that’s where we went wrong. "The comeback was positive but the result was disappointing. "The reaction was good, we didn’t lose, but we dropped two points we could have won." Burnley will complain about the penalty decision, with Jesse Lingard winning a soft one as he went down theatrically after Jeff Hendrick merely placed an arm across him. But the draw still keeps Sean Dyche's side unbeaten in the Premier League since the turn of the year, and takes them further away from the relegation zone.

Goals – or rather, the scarcity of them –remained the central ailment for both Crystal Palace and Burnley. Palace finally appeared luminous, a display of exceptional style lighting up the home fans with assertion and craft, not missing an important opportunity to grab a precious first home league victory of the season. It is, after all, December. Leicester City’s James Maddison sinks Watford with sublime volley Read more Considering its overall importance in the struggle to wriggle away from the drop zone, this could prove to be the Eagles’ season-defining moment. Having missed the chance to claim three points at Manchester United in their last, scoreless, encounter, they were confronted with an entirely different and vibrant proposition. Andros Townsend’s quality second goal, after James McArthur’s slightly fortuitous first-half opener, was reward for the Palace manager, Roy Hodgson. On another slant Wilfried Zaha appeared at times to be on a solo quest in a duel against Burnley’s keeper Joe Hart, whose fine form prevented a mauling. “It’s been a long time coming and I’m equally pleased with the performance,” said Hodgson. “We haven’t been lucky at home. Results have been there in the shadow and they have eluded us but today it didn’t. It would be a curmudgeonly person to deny Palace [credit] today. It’s not often you have 30 attempts on goal. “This is one we needed to win but we got the points because we were better from start to finish.” Now in the bottom three, Burnley, meanwhile, were bereft of everything needed for survival and failed to register a single shot on target. Their manager Sean Dyche’s team are a dismal shadow of last season’s seventh-placed side. From a drizzly south London lens that heady Europa League qualification seems a world away. It looks as if everything has caught up with them, with visits to Tottenham and Arsenal coming up before Christmas. Dyche refuses to panic. “The fear attached to football is an important factor,” he said. “You need that looseness to act naturally. That was off today and in the second half they deserved it. “The whole team performance is something to think about and when fear comes into performances you soften. “I don’t stare at the league table. We have to get back to a consistent level of performances. Today we slipped back again and need to find that consistency and performance. I knew in the summer this would be a real tough season. “I think I’ve been really loyal to players but we’ve been disrupted by injuries and it affects our growth as a team. We have to continually remodel and rethink.” After a zippy start, in which Max Meyer and Zaha were creatively prominent, Palace scored with 16 min

As it was Manchester City did not need him against opposition as limited as Burnley. With Pep Guardiola sending Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden on for cameo appearances in the second half, everyone in blue was happy in the end. The only possible complaint was that City might have won by an even greater margin, such was their total control, though when Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sané added stylish goals in the closing minutes it hardly seemed to matter. Chelsea’s late leveller against Manchester United sparks touchline chaos around Mourinho Read more “We could have scored more in the first half but in general it was a good performance,” Guardiola said. “It is normal to take a little time to settle after an international break but by the end everyone was at a high level.” Too high for the Clarets. Sergio Agüero went into this game with six goals from six games against Burnley, and it took him only 17 minutes to make it seven in seven. He could have scored much earlier than that but the first time Mahrez arrowed in a diagonal cross from the right after four minutes the striker seemed to lose his bearings and put a free header miles wide. That should have been a warning to Burnley, yet the next time it happened Agüero met Mahrez’s cross with his foot and Joe Hart made a point-blank save. Agüero acknowledged his former teammate’s reactions with a friendly pat on the back, though there was to be no respite for the returning goalkeeper. David Silva and Sané traded passes in the penalty area as they waited for an opening to present itself, and when it did Agüero had no trouble in holding off Charlie Taylor to reach Silva’s cross. City made most headway down the left, where the trickiness of Silva and Sané backed up by Benjamin Mendy breached the Burnley back line with ease. Yet with the visitors rarely crossing the halfway line there was little urgency to the home side’s attacks. Guardiola has often complained his side are not clinical enough when on top, and the City manager was visibly aghast at the end of the first half when Hart kept out Silva’s header and Agüero missed an open goal from the rebound. All Burnley had to offer before the interval was a Jeff Hendrick shot blocked by John Stones, though their most promising opening came in the first minute following a mistake by Aymeric Laporte. Vincent Kompany managed to snuff out the danger with a dangerously high tackle on Aaron Lennon. Starting a league game for the first time since August, the City captain found himself in the book after 35 seconds and was probably lucky to stay on.
