🏆 BOV Challenge League - Matchday 8️⃣ Full time score: Melita 3-0 Vittoriosa Scorers: Nigel Rizzo ⚽⚽, Matteo Desira Buttigieg ⚽ A fantastic performance from our Reds to secure an important three points courtesy of a Nigel Rizzo brace and a Matteo Desira Buttigieg penalty! The encounter kicked off in rainy conditions, between two sides looking to cement their positions in the top half of the standings. The first half an hour was a cagey affair with both sides rarely threatening. Towards the end of the half, our boys began to gain a foothold in the match and right before the break we went ahead through a fantastically worked team move. Chris Baker picked up the ball on the left flank, cutting inside and switching play to find Nigel Rizzo who let the ball run into the path of the onrushing Daniel Cutajar who squared the ball back to Nigel in the box for him to clinically finish into the bottom corner!! With the score one up at the break, our boys emerged for the second half eager to close off the encounter, dominating early proceedings of the half. Ten minutes in, Nigel Rizzo received the ball on the edge of the box, turning to face his direct opponent who rushed in and brought him down for the referee to award a penalty. Matteo Desira Buttigieg stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and increase our advantage to two goals. From then on, our boys controlled the encounter and with minutes left we added a third when man of the match Nigel Rizzo pounced on uncertainty in the Vittoriosa rearguard to steam through and find the goalkeeper in no man's land, calmly slotting home for a convincing win!
