On June 28, 2020, the @warriors official Twitter and Instagram accounts posted some quick clips from individual workouts at Biofreeze Performance Center, the Golden State Warriors practice facility that is inside Chase Center in San Francisco, CA. One glimpse β under two seconds, in fact β of Stephen Curry had him tying his basketball shoes. A couple days later, and no pun intended, @thebasketballshoes on Instagram reposted a screen shot of that clip and labeled it βCurry 8β. Now, the news of the seasonal impending next iteration of the Curry signature line with Under Armour seemed sparse this year, not surprisingly probably buried among pandemic and BLM news, not to mention the Warriorsβ forgettable 2019-20 campaign which ended with Curry playing only 5 games of the injury-depleted 15-50 win-loss record. So as I went about confirming that the shoes Curry put on literally a few days ago for an individual workout, I discovered a few interesting developments. On June 4, 2020, there was a leak of the Curry8 in throes very same colors: black with a white sole, as reported by @thesneakerbrief. We might never know where they got those leaked photos. Under Armour has been notoriously vigilant in tracking down leaks. We know for a fact that a few Instagram leakers who have direct ties to Chinese factories have had their hand slapped for posting pictures of Curryβs signature shoes that are prototypes or final designs. Bottom line: Curry signature shoe leaks are few and far between, relative to their brand counterparts. But it turns out a few days even before that, on May 29, 2020, a website called juiced29.com, not usually known for sneakerhead leaks, posted what appears to be promotional material for the Curry 8 βFlowβ, which happens to also include β get this β a rebranding of Stephβs iconic βSC30β logo. π€π The gut instinct here would be to chalk this up as a hoax, but if this were, someone went through a whole lot of trouble to come up with a new logo that mimics Curryβs signature, plus all of the βbrochure materialβ it came with β not to mention a picture of a unique colorway that accentuates some of the other parts of the shoe. This would include what appears to be ground-breaking new sole technology called βGuard Rail.β The Curry 8 is set to release August 2020, according to TheSneakerBrief.com.
