The second-seeded Blue Devils will advance to the semifinals of the ACC Softball Championship after defeating tenth-seeded North Carolina, 16-8. Jessica Oakland had the hot bat with four hits including 2 doubles and 4 RBI for the Blue Devils. Duke scored 6 runs in the 4th and 6th innings to overwhelm the rival Tar Heels. KK Mathis and Gabriella Shadek each notched three hits with Mathis registering 3 RBI. Mathis also had command on the mound as she got the victory to move to 2-0 in the tournament after surrendering only 2 hits and 0 earned runs for the Blue Devils in 1.2 innings pitched. Michele Tarpey and Lexie Roberts combined for 6 hits and the ACC Home Run leader Emily Legette had a 2-run home run blast in the top of the fourth for the Tar Heels.
