The Los Angeles Dodgers removed Shohei Ohtani from their lineup for his start against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers kept the same lineup ahead of the second game of their series against the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers are in desperate need of some offense, falling short yet again in their series opener against their divisional rivals. They scored just three runs in the game, ultimately losing to a late-inning surge from the visitors. Right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start for the Dodgers on Tuesday, making his eighth start of the season for LA. He has been solid for the Dodgers this season, posting a 3.09 ERA through 43.2 innings pitched so far. He has 40 strikeouts under his belt, and has gone at least five innings in each of his starts so far this season. Designated hitter Shohei Ohtani leads the line for the Dodgers, and will look to break out of the slump which has plagued him for nearly two weeks now. The superstar has four hits in 36 at-bats in May, and has struggled to produce any offense for LA since the beginning of the month. He has just one homer since April 13. Shortstop Mookie Betts will bat second behind Ohtani, exactly where he batted upon his return from the injured list Monday. First baseman Freddie Freeman bats third, followed by right fielder Kyle Tucker and catcher Will Smith. One of the Dodgersโ hottest hitters in third baseman Max Muncy bats sixth, followed by center fielder Andy Pages, who is also on a decent run for LA. Left fielder Teoscar Hernandez will bat eighth, and second baseman Hyeseong Kim rounds out the lineup. Dodgersโ Lineup vs. Giants 1. Shohei Ohtani, DH 2. Mookie Betts, SS 3. Freddie Freeman, 1B 4. Kyle Tucker, RF 5. Will Smith, C 6. Max Muncy, 3B 7. Andy Pages, CF 8. Teoscar Hernandez, LF 9. Hyeseong Kim, 2B P. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, RHP Right-hander Adrian Houser will take the mound on Tuesday, and the Dodgers will look to capitalize on a weak point in the Giantsโ rotation. Houser has a 6.19 ERA through seven starts, only striking out 19 batters through 36.1 innings pitched. He has allowed a home run in each of his last five starts, and has let multiple runs cross in every one of his outings this season. The Dodgers desperately need some help on offense, and could take advantage of a struggling pitcher to find the spark they need. Yamamoto will throw the first pitch of the game Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. PT. The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated shortstop Mookie Betts and have him in the lineup for their series opener against the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers have struggled for offense over the past several weeks, and will hope Betts can provide a boost to their lineup amid their team-wide slump. LA scored three runs or fewer in each of their three games against the Atlanta Braves in their last series, and only won one of them. Roki Sasaki will take the mound for the Dodgers, and the right-hander is surely ready to go after getting some extra rest. The Dodgers listed Sasaki as their probable pitcher for Saturdayโs game, but moved him to a Monday start and gave Blake Snell the start instead after his return from the injured list. The rest will hopefully do Sasaki well, as he has struggled through his first handful of starts in 2026. He has a 5.97 ERA after six appearances, striking out 26 batters in 28.2 innings pitched. He has been strong through the first couple of innings of his starts, but tends to run into trouble during his second time through the order. Only one of his 19 earned runs this season has come in the first two innings of a ballgame. Shohei Ohtani will lead off for the Dodgers as their designated hitter and look to break out of the slump heโs been riding, and Betts will bat second in his return to the lineup. First baseman Freddie Freeman makes room for Betts and moves down to the three hole, while right fielder Kyle Tucker bats in the cleanup spot. Catcher Will Smith drops down the lineup to fifth with Betts back in the lineup, and third baseman Max Muncy will bat sixth. Center fielder Andy Pages bats seventh for the Dodgers, followed by left fielder Teoscar Hernandez and second baseman Hyseong Kim. 1. Shohei Ohtani, DH 2. Mookie Betts, SS 3. Freddie Freeman, 1B 4. Kyle Tucker, RF 5. Will Smith, C 6. Max Muncy, 3B 7. Andy Pages, CF 8. Teoscar Hernandez, LF 9. Hyeseong Kim, 2B P. Roki Sasaki, RHP Right-hander Trevor McDonald will start for the Giants, making his second start of the season for San Francisco. He began the season in the minors for the Giants, but came up May 4 for a start against the San Diego Padres, where he threw seven innings of one-run baseball and allowed just two hits. The 25-year-old ranks as their No. 16 prospect, and will look to further solidify himself in their rotation. The first game of the three-game series begins Monday at 7:10 p.m. PT. The Los Angeles Dodgers are hoping to make it two straight against one of the best teams in the National League, the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers picked up a 3-1 victory against Atlanta in a game where the oddsmakers had Los Angeles as the smallest favorite that they have been all season long. Cy Young arm Chris Sale was on the bump for the Braves, though the Dodgers managed to get enough offense on the board to get the lead and put the game in the hands of their pitching staff. Emmet Sheehan had a much stronger outing than his last appearance, while the bullpen has continued to be a mainly shutdown unit. Now, the Dodgers turn the page to the second game of the series with Snell on the mound, making his season debut after battling a shoulder issue. Dodgers Lineup vs. Braves on Saturday 1. Shohei Ohtani, DH 2. Freddie Freeman, 1B 3. Will Smith, C 4. Kyle Tucker, RF 5. Andy Pages, CF 6. Max Muncy, 3B 7. Teoscar Hernandez, LF 8. Hyeseong Kim, SS 9. Alex Freeland, 2B P. Blake Snell, LHP The Dodgers deployed a specialized lineup against the Braves on Friday, with a matchup that featured minimal left-handed hitting and right-handers moved up the order. Los Angeles clearly respected Sale enough to move Freeman, Tucker, and Muncy down the order, while giving a hot hitter like Hyeseong Kim the day off to avoid the matchup. However, on Saturday, the Dodgers are deploying a more typical batting order, with Kim coming back and Freeland joining him at the bottom of the order. Tucker returns to the No. 4 spot, and Max Muncy moves up from No. 8 to No. 6. Freeman goes back to the No. 2 spot, with Smith going down to No. 3. The Braves are rolling out Spencer Strider, a right-hander who was once one of the most promising arms in baseball, though injuries and mechanics issues have cost him over the last season. Strider has only pitched 3 innings this season, with an 8.10 ERA. He made his season debut on May 3 and will face a tough test against the Dodgers. All of the left-handed hitters for the Dodgers will get their chances as Strider finds his footing. ๐ฅ LIKE this video if you love Dodgers baseball ๐ฅ COMMENT your pick โ Dodgers or Cardinals? ๐ฅ SUBSCRIBE for more Live Reaction, MLB, and baseball content!
