Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 85 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home. The Detroit Red Wings and Bobby Ryan defeated the Chicago Blackhawks in the Red Wings Preseason Opener on September 29th. We'll take a look at the great performances from Bobby Ryan, Adam Erne, and Calvin Pickard from the first preseason game. We also discuss some not-so-great Red Wings performances by Alex Cotton, Carter Rowney, and Kirill Tyutyayev. Discussion Topics: -Alex Cotton looking like dog shit -Officiating was poopoo -The Red Wings Power Play looked better than last year -Bobby Ryan (8.05 points per 60) is earning a job somewhere. Ryan looks great with Goals and assists for the Red Wings against the Blackhawks. -Adam Erne also looking like he’s bringing over his production from last season to this year (6.19 Points per 60, 2 assists) back to the Detroit Red Wings -Calvin Pickard looked great not allowing a goal against the Chicago Blackhawks(2.47GSAx), Greiss and Lankinen were both negative. In the first preseason game of the season, all eyes will be on Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider. While Moritz Seider appears to be a lock for a role, most want to see just how good he really is. For Lucas Raymond, he has proved he can stand out with his performance in the prospect tournament and the Red and White game, but can he translate that to his game when facing the Blackhawks. Fans will also be looking to see which defensemen will be winning out the bottom-pairing role and who will be carried into the season as backups. Steve Yzerman already revealed he’ll be going into the season with 8 defensemen, so who will it be? Wyatt Newpower, Gustav Lindstrom, Jordan Oesterle? And will one of those gentlemen steal a spot from Troy Stecher or Marc Staal? Episode sponsored by Draft Kings. Jeff Blashill and the Detroit Red Wings have new forward lines and used them to shutout the Buffalo Sabres,4-0. The line put in 1 goal early in the 3rd. Tyler Bertuzzi, Fabbri, and Pius Suter made up the second line for the Red Wings. Suter, Bertuzzi, and Fabbri used to play together on the Guelph Storm. We also got an absolutely beautiful goal and move by Grand Rapids Griffins forward, Jonatan Berggren. Any chance we see Berggren before the end of the season? Episode sponsored by Draft Kings. Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 198, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home. Moritz Seider, the human wrecking ball, was not enough for the Red Wings to beat the Washington Capitals or the Boston Bruins. The Red Wings mustered 2 measly goals against the Boston Bruins and the Washington Capitals, reminding us all how far this team still needs to go. Tyler Bertuzzi and Pius Suter provided some offense, while Vladislav Namestnikov and Moritz Seider provided some much-needed physicality. However, 1 goal will very rarely be enough for a team to win. The Red Wings need to score first. The Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens played back-to-back games against the Red Wings showing a trap defensive style that was very effective against the Red Wings offense. To avoid this, the Red Wings need to score first to keep their opponents pushing, rather than having the luxury of sitting back. 2. The Red Wings need to count on secondary scoring, again. The 1st line's performance was not enough against the Blue Jackets. The likes of Filip Zadina is prime target to step and score. 1. The goaltender matchup is very key. Alex Nedeljkovic is making room between himself and Thomas Greiss as the number one goaltender on the team. His aggressive and risky style is paying off. The Dallas Stars are putting Jake Oettinger on the ice, in his first contest of the season. Oettinger was in the net for Robby Fabbri's hat trick last season and Jakub Vrana's 4 goal night. Can another scorer step up tonight?
