Manchester City are out of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 after a 4-3 extra-time defeat to Al-Hilal in Orlando. City v Al-Hilal: Live FIFA Club World Cup 2025 updates Bernardo Silva opened the scoring just nine minutes into what would prove an eventful night at a hot and humid Camping World Stadium. Al-Hilal responded with two goals in the first six minutes of the second half through Marcos Leonardo and Malcom before Erling Haaland quickly equalised. The Saudi Arabian side again took the lead early in extra time through Kalidou Koulibaly before Phil Foden’s 100th City goal pulled us level. However, it was Leonardo who proved the match winner late on for Al-Hilal. City booked our place in the FIFA Club World Cup knockout stages with a game to spare in Group G after cruising to a 6-0 win over Al Ain in Atlanta. The Blues never looked back after taking an early lead thanks to a sensational – albeit perhaps unintentional - Ilkay Gundogan chip, with Claudio Echeverri doubling our advantage as the half hour mark approached from a free-kick. An Erling Haaland penalty on the stroke of half-time added further daylight between the sides before Gundogan grabbed his second with 15 to play. Substitutes Oscar Bobb and Rayan Cherki - opening his City account - then rounded off the scoring late on to ensure the race for top spot in Group G goes down to the wire, as we prepare to face Juventus in Orlando on Thursday. Episode 2 of Inside Club World Cup takes you behind the scenes as City gear up to face Wydad AC in our opening match of the ...
The Blues took the lead inside two minutes when Phil Foden pounced on a loose ball inside the Wydad area, setting the tone for a generally dominant display. Jeremy Doku added a second after firing home from a Foden corner as half-time approached, with the Belgian also going close to a third early in the second 45. A late red card for Rico Lewis - which appeared harsh - did little to derail City’s march to three points, with an assured performance in sweltering conditions seeing us move top of Group G.
